    Evaporation rates

After a long weekend of patching the liner I might have the leak either stopped or slowed way down. I’m down to losing about an 1/8 during the day and a 1/4 at night. Haven’t had time to do the bucket test because of a busy weekend. Hopefully it’s just evaporation now. Plan on contacting a pool...

    Evaporation rates

I plan on redoing a bucket test and just letting the water drop till the water loss slows down.

    Evaporation rates

Not that I’m aware of. Now the 500-600 might of been a slight exaggeration ?. I think I figured it one day that 2 inches in our pool is about 600 gallons. That would be over a couple days if I would not fill pool. Our pool is surrounded by a deck and rock so it is hard to tell. I feel like I...

    Evaporation rates

I should note that I know my skimmer has a slight leak. When I mean slight I am talking about a drip every 10-30 sec. I feel like that doesn’t add up to almost 500-600 gallons a day of water loss.

    Evaporation rates

10-4 I have tried that with mixed results. Sometimes the pool looses more and some times the bucket seems to. It rained hard enough a couple weeks ago to fill the pool up to the top of the skimmer. It was cloudy and cooler for 3 days and it showed no sign of water loss. Within 2 days of sunshine...

    Evaporation rates

I have been noticing some random water levels drops throughout this summer. Being new to the pool thing I was just wondering how much evaporation is considered normal. Some days I can loose almost an inch or more. Other days I could loose less than an 1/8 of and inch. So far this week I have had...

    Backwashing filter every 30-60 mins

Temps have been in the low 50s to low 60s so I’m sure the colder weather isn’t helping algae growth.

    Backwashing filter every 30-60 mins

I’m trying to slam, but with work and my crazy schedule and Mother Nature the last 3 days it’s been hard to keep the FC high. Still no test kit... (suppose to have arrived today). I’m relying on my strips and so far I assume everything ok. Ph dropped to 7.2 today from 7.8. We received 3.5 inches...

    Backwashing filter every 30-60 mins

When I woke up this morning pool water was clear and I could see the bottom well? Weird I know. I bit the bullet and let pump run the 4 hours today while I was at work. No problems, but filter was pretty dirty. Never went over 5psi higher than normal. I’m assuming since I switched to using...

    Backwashing filter every 30-60 mins

Sounds good. I just don’t understand why they would label it as filter sand. I believe everything that you have said. That’s why I’m wondering if the sand over time is setting down around the lateral to tightly. A guy I work with used the same sand last year with no problems. So I’m just between...

    Backwashing filter every 30-60 mins

Yes I haven’t seem much sand settling in my pool, but on the other hand I can’t really see the bottom. ? I feel like if it was a sand issue I would have already figured that out. If anyone else had input on a 20/40 mix instead of #20 feel free.
