Second Year with TFP. Cloudy Water

6-4-15 Update: I have now been SLAMMING my pool for a week, keeping the FC at 29+. Testing yesterday gave me the values: PH 7.7 FC 32 CC <.5 TA 130 CYA 70 CH 700 Water is clear, however not crystal clear like it was all of last year. I could read the writing on my drain cover last year. It...

Second Year with TFP. Cloudy Water

Went home at lunch and water is still cloudy. Its looking better, and I can see the bottom easily, but just not sparkling like it has in years past, so I threw in bleach and took it to FC 29+, and turned the SWG to 80%. Will let it run 29+ for the rest of the week and see if it clears up. Will...

Second Year with TFP. Cloudy Water

Hayward S244T Sand Filter. Put in a couple cups of DE Powder yesterday to see if that will help the filtration. I probably should check my sand, but just purchased this unit last year and had good luck with it til I closed it last fall, so shouldn't be that unless I may have backwashed some...

Second Year with TFP. Cloudy Water

Hello all, I opened May 2nd, to a light green pool. Decided to SLAM, and took FC to 28 for several days. Water cleared considerably, with just a little cloudiness. Here are my numbers on May 4th. PF 7.6 FC 25 CC <.5 TA 140 CYA 70 Left town for a week, and returned to the same level of...

Started SLAM and pool filter split

I forgot to mention it has also been raining for the past 2 days here, so how does a person account for the accumulated rain water in the pool? Rained close to an inch yesterday, and is raining again today?

Started SLAM and pool filter split

Prior to the filter blowout, I had brought the FC level to 34. That night I was not able to circulate so pool sat overnight uncirculated. Yesterday at lunch time I was able to get it recirculating again and FC at that time was at 25, so I added 2 more gallons of 8.25% bleach, and that should...

Started SLAM and pool filter split

Have a multiport, but when I set it to Recirc, it leaks. Couldn't find replacement bottom for the S-240, so ordered a new S244T. Am planning on removing the valve, and temporarily plumbing it to recirculate, til the new one arrives.

Started SLAM and pool filter split

I am a new member to this forum, ordered my test kit, planned my SLAM, and things were going well. I started with CYA of 70-80, and was keeping my FC over 30. Pool was clear after about 10 Hrs. I then turned off my pump via my timer, so that I could change it so it would not shut off...

Chlorine Demand Problem with Salt Water Pool

Ok, I received my test kit yesterday and initial tests showed CYA 80 FC 2.0 CC 1.5 TA 160 CH High(700) Source water is high(maybe 400) I was concerned with the CYA at 80 and wanted to reduce it, so vacuumed algae and leaves to waste, and dropped it about 8", refilled, added salt, and a little...

Chlorine Demand Problem with Salt Water Pool

How accurate is the TF-100 CYA test? Will it have the same degree of error as the pool store?

Chlorine Demand Problem with Salt Water Pool

Does it seem plausible for the CYA to climb from 103 to 131 from just the few bags of Cal Hypo?

Chlorine Demand Problem with Salt Water Pool

I've been a pool owner for 20 years, but just switched to salt water this year. Only had Chlorine Demand issues a couple of times during those 20 years, and both times I drained my pool down and double or triple shocked my pool with Cal Hypo. Since I rarely had an issue the last few years, I let...
