    FC Level

Liquid chlorine is great for an instant boost of chlorine and no extra ingredients, but there is no need to use it on a regular basis when your SWG is producing chlorine. I have a SWG and will only have to use liquid chlorine in these scenarios: - In the winter when the water is too cold for...

Maintenance needed for salt water pool?

This is the gold standard for a complete kit for a Saltwater pool. Note there are links at the top for reagents only, or supplemental kits like Salt test kits. https://tftestkits.net/TF-Pro-Salt-with-SmartStir-p119.html

First season as a pool owner... Quickly realizing I need a lot of help

Add ~ 5FC of chlorine daily until your kit arrives so keep the algae at bay. Normally I would suggest Walmart, but that may be a bit challenging in your location unless you want to drive a bit, but any hardware store or pool store should have liquid chlorine. Note that 1/2 gallon of liquid...

    Chemical Levels

Simple. Hand him the instructions and tell him he is written out of the will if he doesnt use the test kit. :) Good luck with your pool and recovery.

Can we get a trouble free pool? I say, Yes, only with all y’alls help, that is!

Well, I guess we just need to shut down the website :) We can help both of you get through any issues. Grecian - Your pool will be more trouble free if you go with a salt water pool. Builders do not like them, but they make life so much easier since they make their own chlorine (and only...

    Slam and silt

Its likely dead algae. Keep at the SLAM, including brushing, running the robot and backwashing when needed. Once crystal clear, do the OCLT and CC tests to see if you pass those. It sounds like the end is in sight, but you likely have a few more days.

    Pool Water Testing

In the meantime, make sure your salt cell is working and making chlorine (no low salt, low flow, or other errors). While we do not trust Leslies, that chlorine was super low as was your salt.

    SLAM question

Good job testing and replenishing FC multiple times a day. Just a couple of points: With a CYA of 30, your SLAM level is 12 not 10 I wouldn't mess with the CC or any other test besides FC until your pool is crystal clear Make sure you are running the pump 24/7 and brushing daily since algae...

Finished SLAM and passed all tests besides clear water

Hey Derrick - I took a peek at your Pool Math logs. In the last week, your FC is well below the minimums except for 1 day and was nowhere near SLAM Level. Make sure you are reading the FC/CYA charts correctly. For a CYA of 30, your SLAM level is 12. Keep it there until your pool clears up...

Any issues with ear infections ("swimmer's ear")??

I remember getting it every summer as a kid, but I was also on the neighborhood swim team so I was in the pool 6 days a week with my head partially submerged. As an adult, I've never had swimmer's ear. Of course my ears stay much drier since I use the pool to cool off after yard work, then...

New build, added too much salt

While you didnt add salt previously, you cannot assume that it was 0 as many things can add salt to the pool including liquid chlorine. Did you test the pool salinity before adding salt?

My pool shell was shot too high

I wouldnt mess with the bond beam. Do you have a step down from your back door to the existing patio? If you have enough room, could they add a topper to your patio to raise the height to be level with the bond beam (plus the height of the coping)? Otherwise, I would guess you will need to...

Blue Surf pebble sheen turned grey

After I posted last night I got to thinking of the PebbleTec pictures on their website. Here is the link to a Blue Surf picture on their website that looks a lot like the pictures you and I both have of our pools. I would chalk it up to its working as designed and there is not much you can...

Blue Surf pebble sheen turned grey

Wait a second, blue surf doesn’t mean the plaster is blue. Grey plaster means blue water color. I have blue surf too and it looks a lot like your pictures. A nice blue water but you can see they grey in the shallow areas. Also note, blue plaster tends to have greenish water. We hated our Blue...
