From green swamp water to an aqua color, but won’t clear.

I stuff as many pucks as possible in the floater. Is this contraindicated when doing the SLAM procedure? I’ve been using the granular chlorine in the pic and went through half of it in two months. Recently I used liquid chlorine and although still cloudy, now I can see 6-foot deep end. I think...

I thought bigger was better (-: This is the existing pump when I bought this house. I’ve heard of 2-speed pumps but not familiar with them. I’ll look in to it if they are energy efficient. How well would they work with my filter?

Yes; I do mean 11.0. I test the water about every 3 days. Over the past month, the pump has run 24/7 but I have turned it off overnight a few times. The upcoming electric bill will sting. Here’s a pic.

From green swamp water to an aqua color, but won’t clear.

The past 2 months, I’ve been working aggressively to clean my swamp water. It now looks better as an aqua color but still won’t clear. I also bought a new cartridge for the filter and clean it about every three to four days; especially when I see the pressure (on the gauge) go up. And when I...

Flowtec pump "pump" problem after re-plumbing and re-wiring

Sure enough, I only had a 120 volts going to the pump. I re-wired for 220 volts and the pump works fine. Thank you.

Flowtec pump "pump" problem after re-plumbing and re-wiring

Perhaps I did the wiring wrong; it’s a 220 volt Flotec pump. I will check again in the AM and provide pictures.

Flowtec pump "pump" problem after re-plumbing and re-wiring

Today, I re-plumbed and re-wired my Flotec pump and Hayward C1200 filter for cosmetic purposes for the interior of my shed where this apparatus is stored (I laid pavers). After completion (6 hours), I ran into a problem (fatigue..old age? (-: ). The pump turns on properly, the strainer housing...

Green water continues, new filter installed and chemicals OK

Re: Green water continues, new filter installed and chemical Yes, beneath the skimmer basket are two holes but only one has suction. I think I understand now; so there must be a device that can be installed in the skimmer to regulate flow. I could probable fabricate a U-shaped pipe to engage...

Green water continues, new filter installed and chemicals OK

Re: Green water continues, new filter installed and chemical Hello Jason, This is an existing pool from when I bought the house a year and half ago; so I don’t know if the floor is plumb to the skimmer. Seems to me it would have to be but I don’t know how to figure out. I Googled a “float...

Green water continues, new filter installed and chemicals OK

Re: Green water continues, new filter installed and chemical Is there any way to unclog the bottom drain with water in the pool? Is this something a pro should do or can a rookie like me do this? My pool/pump/filter does not have the option to regulate between skimmer and bottom drain. When I...

Green water continues, new filter installed and chemicals OK

Re: Green water continues, new filter installed and chemical I received my replacement cartridge from Hayward and this replacement appears to be working properly; that is, no particles come out the return pipe when I vacuum the bottom. It’s been installed and running about 12 hours per day for...

Green water continues, new filter installed and chemicals OK

Re: Green water continues, new filter installed and chemical I'm aware the filter doesn’t kill the algae, just collects the dead algae (or supposed to). I used up my CYA testing material and waiting on a refill to arrive. The FC has consistently been between 7 to 15 PPM for two weeks. I just...

Green water continues, new filter installed and chemicals OK

Re: Green water continues, new filter installed and chemical When I vacuumed two weeks ago, I saw green water coming back through the return pipe, but this was during my aggressive treatment of greenish blackish water. I’m assuming there was so much dead algae on the bottom that the filter...
