I just filled it up overnight with city water. I do have the test kit recommended on here, so I guess I will bring my chlorine levels up, and then test them over night after I get some CYA in the pool. Thansk!

I had to put a new liner in my pool (boy was that a project!) I was wondering if I have to shock my pool if it is not green? I know I need to add cya and bleach to bring my chlorine up, but if it is clear I should not have to shock do I? Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I agree, I told her it is too high and that she needs to drain the pool. She is using granular chlorine and shocks every 2 weeks! I told her to start using this forum and to switch over to Bleach.. In the meantime, if she adds bleach to get up to a shock level, will...

Ok, here are the reults: FC 20 CC 0 TC 20 PH 7.5 T/A 170 CYA 120 In checking the Pool Calculator, it looks like the best thing is to drain and refill about 60% of the water. Shock level would need to be 28! What do you think? Thanks!

I used the Valves from Lowe's and they worked great!

Last night I took the pool to shock level. When I checked this morning, it dropped to 11 so I brought it back up to shock level again. I will check tonight and see what the level is. I think it is getting better though, becuase the water is getting more clear.

I have dipped below a couple times, so I think that must be what happend. Shock level is 16 for my CYA correct?

My pool has not been very clear. Everyday there is some algea (dead) on the bottom of the pool that seems to be like dirt. My levels seem to be ok. Do I still need to shock? Here are my levels: FC 3.5 CC 0 PH 7.2 TA 110 CYA 40 Thanks!

Oh ya, I see what you mean now,,, well hopefully I never have to service the motor until I close the pool for the season! LOL!

There is actually a union at the valve as well. I can disconnect it at the valves and then at the Skimmer and the Inlet so that I have no chance of anyone running into the pipes during the winter!

LOL! :-D Those are unions. I only used them because I am in Ohio and I have to take everything in on the winter and I thought it wold be much easier to take apart! :goodjob:
