    CYA drop?

OK thanks everyone. I'll try adding half of what the pool calculator says then retest after 24-48 hours.

    CYA drop?

Yeah the water is completely clear. The PH likes to rise to 8.0 so I add MA to bring it back down to 7.6. I've added about 1 gallon over the last 4-5 weeks. So I'm guessing it's just all the draining that's causing the essentially zero CYA now. It's just odd that the pool store said my...

    CYA drop?

I've been maintaining my new pool by myself for about 6 weeks. After some initial weird things happening, things have settled down and have been pretty stable. For the last week or so I noticed FC dropping quicker than usual, so I've been supplementing with liquid chlorine. I figured the FC drop...

Yes... here's another newbie with a pool

The only things I've tried to adjust so far: chlorine and PH (acid) and both quantity suggestions have been way off. That's why I'm thinking either my pool size is incorrect, or something is going on with my pool: meaning chemicals are being affected by something else such as something the PB...

So do you think my pool volume is incorrect? Even with a TA of 100 in the pool calculator, the suggestions are off. Is this a common problem with other people, or is it just me? If it's just me then I need to figure this out.

I just measured the TA and it looks like 90. The 25 ml sample changed from green to a very light pink at 9 drops, then a dark pink at 10 drops. So maybe 95? Yes the acid strength I chose in the app matches the acid I'm using. I double checked that as well. It's 34.45%. The pool is just...

Yes... here's another newbie with a pool

I wanted to lower my PH because it went from 7.8 to 8.0 and seems to be rising. According to the pool calculator, I need to add 11 oz (1 cup, 3 oz) to lower my PH from 8.0 to 7.6. I started by adding 1 cup. When I tested PH again the next day, it was still at 8.0. So I added another 1 cup. When...

Entirely possible but I have no idea, since they haven't replied. I know they're really busy but I suspect they've just moved on to the next customer since they already received my last payment. If they do get back to me, I'll let you know. How long would that last in the pool? I haven't tested...

Yes... here's another newbie with a pool

Well a few days later and no reply from my PB yet. It may be a moot point now because it seemed to have worked itself out. I was measuring around 0-1 FC for several days, even after adding 2.5 gallons of liquid chlorine. I added another 1.5 gallons of liquid chlorine then let it sit overnight...

Yes... here's another newbie with a pool

Yes I measured CC this morning and it's zero. Adding the 5 drops didn't turn the water pink at all. I'll talk to the pool builder. I have no idea what they were putting into it for the first 4 weeks. One day I called them because the water was really cloudy. They came out the next day and...

Yes... here's another newbie with a pool

Last night I added another 1.5 gallons of liquid chlorine. After 2 hours of running the pump, I measured FC of 9 at sunset. This morning I woke up and started the pump, then measured 30 minutes later as the sun was coming up and I measured FC of 1. Do you recommend a SLAM? I attached some pics...
