I was kinda thinking 40-50 CYA would be better as well. Does that mean I have to add more Chlorine or does having it higher mean it will protect the chlorine and still add about the same amount daily.

Also a note the pool guy was back washing the pump every week, After looking around here and talking to people in the pool store it seems I should let that build up longer than that the gauge on my pump doesn't show anything on the gauge right now.

Ok sounds good, I was scared at the idea when we first looked at the house but the more I read on here it seems like its gonna be pretty easy. Sounds like you guys will have my back if i really screw it up.

So realistically what am i getting myself into? what kind of time sink will I have with all this? Once I had my reef tank going it was pretty solid and I stopped worrying about water chemistry but with this it seems like its a constant struggle depending on the weather.
