The more basic question is the one about the heater. Is the automation aspect simply interrupting the circuit? Can you leave a heater in an on/heating position and put a switch on the wall to turn it off and on?

My pipes coming into the pump/filter area need to be blown up and rebuilt. I have 3 returns and 5 skimmers coming into that "closet" and the valves are all broken, etc.. Anyway - long story short - it would be much better for space purposes if I was able to elevate the pump a few feet. Right...

It happens with mine but I think it is just gunk that gets through when you bump it.

Had a cartridge, replaced it with de and own a sand filter now as well. I'd go with de every day of the week. Simplified. De is best but requires maintenance. Sand is easy but doesn't clear as nicely.

iPad version. :) Pool was in terrible shape. Tried filtering for a few days with little in the way of apparent results. Turned everything off on Saturday. On Monday decided to floc. 3 containers. Used a hose sprayer to apply it evenly over the pool. Expected signs of success within hours but...

I get that about the algae and I'm dealing with it separately. However the pump pressure is at 6 and not changing after 16 hours of filtering basically pondwater and the filter water is just as dirty coming out.

Ok. Not getting better and pressure not changing. Took the filter apart. Sand is about filled to about halfway. Not nearly enough right?
