    Big leak due to Multipoint?

Thanks for your replies Rama - delay in responding has been due to pool shop not keeping appointments, as I feel rather too timid to do the work myself on the multipoint. Also just now the Hayward pump has sprung a leak underneath so perhaps both should be completely replaced, they must be 20+...

    Big leak due to Multipoint?

Yes, actually think it does discharge more when running than when off. Waste pipe goes down to end of garden and empties into ground about a foot under the pool waterline - but difficult to see any water as pipe buried. Any ideas as to life of Multiports? Any suggestions as to new one? Also...

    Big leak due to Multipoint?

On an inherited inground concrete pool, perhaps 20 years old. At random times after backwashing the Hayward sand filter with an old Multiport valve ('SFC' brand if that means anything) so the handle will have been revolved 360 degrees and put into two positions - 6 o'clock for 3 mins, then 10...

    Hayward Tiger Shark Experience

Problem I've found is that it has trouble climbing the walls if there is any small kind of algae or loose plaster-sand around. I think the filter gets clogged v. quickly. Maybe the bottom plate attachment which slightly lifts it off the surface would help me . I'll buy one and see.

    pH and robots

Exactly what I thought!! But dealers always ask 'What was the pH?' when I say robot climbs wall once or twice when it's first started, then makes efforts but gets nowhere except the floor!

    pH and robots

Is it true that pH is important so that automatic robots can climb walls? And IF this is true, why please?! I'm puzzled!

    New plaster feels granulated!

Today the tests are: Bromine 1.5 pH 7.4 Alk 60 CH 266 There is mild algae build-up on the walls which when brushed just slightly vanish - I shock usually about twice weekly because of the high UV factor and this clears algae. I was sold the idea of bromine by the dealer when he remade...

    New plaster feels granulated!

Difficult to remember, but I think pool probably was brushed within two weeks....

    New plaster feels granulated!

Last year the pool (inground concrete) was totally resurfaced with plaster (sprayed on after old had been scraped back and new applied about half-inch thick, then smoothed over to finish.) Now, 18 months later, it's possible to just rub your finger lightly over the surface (underwater) and tiny...

Converting outdoor pool from bromine to chlorine

Converting outdoor pool from bromine to chlorine

Thanks waterbear. It was the former (tablets). So can I continue to use bleach to shock without anything else (as you say the bromine will remain....for ever and ever??) or do I go back to the regime of using a large amount of bromine tablets plus, fairly often, bleach to shock. That method...

Changing rollers on Tiger Shark/Aquavac Robot

Thanks Randy for that research - problem solved I think!

Converting outdoor pool from bromine to chlorine

Last year I posted about my problem of wanting to convert to chlorine an outdoor bromine pool that had full sun. Had interesting replies (thanks to you all) but the final, unanswered question was this... 'If I now add chlorine shock AND chlorine tablets to the feeder, I'm wondering if, in...

Changing rollers on Tiger Shark/Aquavac Robot

Thanks Randy for your quick response - changing from plastic to Sponge. But I think Aquabot is different to Tiger Shark (also Hayward 'Aquavac' over here in France) as I don't have those arrows and I think I need to remove the cover assembly to replace the complete roller - ouch!
