Yes, actually think it does discharge more when running than when off. Waste pipe goes down to end of garden and empties into ground about a foot under the pool waterline - but difficult to see any water as pipe buried. Any ideas as to life of Multiports? Any suggestions as to new one? Also...

Problem I've found is that it has trouble climbing the walls if there is any small kind of algae or loose plaster-sand around. I think the filter gets clogged v. quickly. Maybe the bottom plate attachment which slightly lifts it off the surface would help me . I'll buy one and see.

Exactly what I thought!! But dealers always ask 'What was the pH?' when I say robot climbs wall once or twice when it's first started, then makes efforts but gets nowhere except the floor!

Is it true that pH is important so that automatic robots can climb walls? And IF this is true, why please?! I'm puzzled!

Difficult to remember, but I think pool probably was brushed within two weeks....

Thanks waterbear. It was the former (tablets). So can I continue to use bleach to shock without anything else (as you say the bromine will remain....for ever and ever??) or do I go back to the regime of using a large amount of bromine tablets plus, fairly often, bleach to shock. That method...

Thanks Randy for your quick response - changing from plastic to Sponge. But I think Aquabot is different to Tiger Shark (also Hayward 'Aquavac' over here in France) as I don't have those arrows and I think I need to remove the cover assembly to replace the complete roller - ouch!
