    Blue(ish) but still cloudy

The water has been blue but cloudy for about a week now. It's getting slightly better but I'd like to hurry it along due to guests coming over on Monday. A bit of history...the water was green, I switched to BBB and used a lot of bleach and liquid chlorine to get to this point. I believe the...

    Finally Blue...but cloudy/turbid

Re: Question I tried to return Fresh 'N Clear Oxidizing Shock, (Quick dissolving & fast acting chlorine-free Oxidizer (Potassium peroxymonosulfate 38%, Other ingred 62%) to the pool store I purchased it at, prior to starting on the BBB process. I was going to exchange it for liquid...

    Finally Blue...but cloudy/turbid

JohnT...thanks for the response. It's good to know I'm almost there. So I should keep it at the shock level until it holds on the overnight test? According to the Chlorine/CYA chart I can reduce the shock level to 10 or 12, as when last tested the CYA was 30 or lower...but that was taken...

    Finally Blue...but cloudy/turbid

It's been quite a process getting to blue (and a lot of bleach), which I'm thrilled about, but FC didn't hold on my overnight test. FC was 18.5 last night and 15.5 at 7am this morning. Do you suggest I hold the shock at 19? I originally had a shock target of 12 when I thought it was green...

    Still Green

OK will do.....I should have explained that I am putting in the required amount for shock level based on the pool calculator each time, and just waiting to test again. s

    Still Green

I'm really only waiting 30-60 minutes in between...in fact it's time to test again. I'm hoping I'm at shock level now. Thanks, S

    Still Green

Hi all, I'm in the middle of the shock process this evening and just wanted to know when I might see the color of the water changing from green? Here are the current numbers.. FC 7.5 (working my way to 13) CC .5 pH 7.8 CYA 30 TA 120 Thanks, S

Am I on the right track?

Thanks! Unfortunately I have to stop the process for a day till Monday. Shall I add more liquid chlorine now and then take another reading on Monday? Will adding it now help during my day away? Or just wait...

Am I on the right track?

The pool store told me I needed Oxidizing Shock (chlorine-free). Should I use that along with more bleach? Or not at all? The pool calculator tells me to add 80oz of stabilizer? Could you explain a bit more for me pls.

Am I on the right track?

FC .5 CC 2.5 TAC 3.0 pH 7.5 TA 140 CYA 30 TDS 600 CH 300 I replaced 30% of my water and got the pH in balance and lowered the CYA (yeah), but the 4 jugs of bleach I put in today hasn't done much for the nasty greenies and it raised the Total Available chlorine level. Any suggestions would be...

    Ready to switch to Bleach

PaulR...thanks for the tip about chlorine, I'll check it out for sure. I just bought a 2pk at OSH yesterday 10%, so the 12.5% will be helpful with my future shock process..along with all the bleach I got at WM this week. I just noticed DE coming back into the pool at start-up..depressing to say...

    Ready to switch to Bleach

Thanks for all the suggestions. With a target CYA of 70 the water replacement is 30%. I did install an outlet to the sewer previously, so I'm all set to do it properly...just need to borrow a pump. In the meantime is it possible to put the backwash hose into the sewer outlet and empty some...

    Ready to switch to Bleach

That's what the pool calculator is telling me...75% Maybe I'm reading it wrong. Last week the pool store said the CYA was 50-100 and today they said 100. I know I need to get a test kit that gives the CYA....but until then. Any suggestions for draining. I'll have to buy a pump quickly as I...

    Ready to switch to Bleach

Yikes... I just drained/filled the pool last summer for the first time. Is there any way to get around a 75% drain at this time and still get rid of the green stuff? S

    Ready to switch to Bleach

Thanks for the response. I've been using floating tablets, liquid chlorine and powder shock, along with M acid... without success (currently green pool). I have an average test kit, strips and have been using the pool store for water evaluation...6/19 & 6/26 to get the CYA numbers. They...
