    Persistent Algae Spots

From the start of this thread I came to the early conclusion that I had not been doing the slam the right way. Hence the reason algae spots would return after a couple weeks. Pool has always been clear and balanced properly. Just goes to show how persistent algae is. So I started the slam again...

    Persistent Algae Spots

Might be a glimmer of hope now. Believe I must have removed something living in the filter housing after doing a more detailed clean. Only had a 2ppm loss FC overnight. Getting closer. Lessons learned and a word of advice to other members struggling with this. Don’t half Rear your cleaning during...

    Persistent Algae Spots

I shouldn’t increase my cya once the slam is over? The recommended level for a swg is 70-80. I get leaving it low while I’m using bleach for the slam. I won’t raise it until I get a successful ONLT and end the slam.

I will try cleaning the sample tube or just get a new one.. I have several. Crossing fingers that cleaning the filter again and now having the cya in a more acceptable range for slamming may help achieve a better ONLT.

    Persistent Algae Spots

Using the pool math app I just logged FC, CC, CYA and water temp. The app tells me that PH is out of range but I didn’t test for that because of the slam. Thats what I was referring too. I apologize for not regularly logging test data. I have started logging as of today so you guys can see and...

    Persistent Algae Spots

Being anal means when I test and take my time and make sure I’m being as accurate as humanly possible. I’m not a newbie and have does these tests before. I even re-run the test if the results seem a bit off just to make sure I didn’t miss count a drop or something. My least favorite test is the...

    Persistent Algae Spots

I used the test in the Taylor kit 2006C and got almost no reading. So I resorted to the Taylor K-1760 kit and got 15ppm.

    Persistent Algae Spots

Ok so after filter maintenance just got a dramatic drop in cya in a week. From 60ppm down to 15ppm. Tested twice to be sure. Adjusting to about 35ppm. FC is at 15ppm. So I guess I’m still good for now. As long as I get the cya up. And yes I logged test results.

    Persistent Algae Spots

I am very anal over testing. I have used up so much regent materials. I sometimes don’t believe the results and test three or four times to be sure I’m coming up with the same results. I even have the sample device from Taylor to be sure I have exactly 10ml. I found using 5ml sample to be off by...

    Persistent Algae Spots

Day 18 of slam. Patience is wearing thin. Still losing 6ppm overnight. Trying to figure out what is causing the loss. Need thoughts on an experiment to see if this is valid. I saved a water sample from the night test and tested the sample in the morning. Agitated the water to mix before testing...

    Persistent Algae Spots

Did check cya again yesterday and was closer to 60 so currently maintaining 24ppm. But last two overnight tests show a 6ppm loss. Frustrating because I can not figure out or see what is causing the loss. I’ve cleaned and scrubbed everything. Reading in the other post for suggestions. Only change...

    Persistent Algae Spots

Only testing FC about four times a day. Morning, afternoon, twice in even to raise to slam level and once more to log level before bed. Following slam per pool math. Just took it back over on Saturday. Because of work had wife just adding enough bleach in the morning and night to maintain slam...

    Persistent Algae Spots

Update on slam, two weeks as of today and still losing 6ppm of FC overnight. Don’t know why I’m having this much loss. Have no visible algae. Pool crystal clear.
