As a new pool owner I’m wondering why pool stores seem to stock (and sell) so much salt when consumption appears to be minuscule. After the PB exited stage left the pool tested at 4800ppm. A few months later and it still tests at 4800ppm. This prompts a couple of queries: a) I assume this...

It's winter over here and with the SWG turned off I'm chewing thru 0.5ppm at the moment per day with CYA at around 60.

Yeah, I think once the CYA reagent's added then time to test is limited. But the water sample itself is OK to be stored. I think I read somewhere that CYA should be tested at room temp - anyone know if that's correct?

Just circling back to this one to close the loop... The guys from CCL sent me out a new 50ppm (and a few bonus items for my trouble). I tested today & she was spot on the 50ppm mark. So problem solved and you can't be happier than that with the customer service from the guys at CCL.

She's a great resource. I was fortunate to stumble across the site just as our first pool install was being completed. So I've avoided the pool $tore learning curve! Still remember a work mate telling me the easiest way to clean your pool each week was to go out and throw a couple hundred...

Thanks mate. I touched base with them via fb. Apparently they had had a similar report from another customer recently. I need to order some more reagent so they're going to throw in another Standard solution.

Hi All, Hoping for some recommendations on what to do here. My Pool water is testing at approx 55ppm for CYA - which I'm recording as 60. I've got a Sample tube from the manufacturer (Clear Choice Labs) of 50ppm CYA. However when I test it the result is more like 100ppm, but definitely beyond...

My 2c is I hate ads AND premium features. Just charge a fair market price for your best product and people will pay. The hard part is finding that "fair" sweet spot for buyer and seller.
