Cheers, that all makes perfect sense.

    Salt Consumption

Correction: it wasn’t pool math that suggested the 4000ppm... not sure where that target came from. Either way, question is 4800ppm OK?

    Salt Consumption

As a new pool owner I’m wondering why pool stores seem to stock (and sell) so much salt when consumption appears to be minuscule. After the PB exited stage left the pool tested at 4800ppm. A few months later and it still tests at 4800ppm. This prompts a couple of queries: a) I assume this...

How long does Free Chlorine last in your pool? (Daily Average)

It's winter over here and with the SWG turned off I'm chewing thru 0.5ppm at the moment per day with CYA at around 60.

    Confusing CYA results

Yeah, I think once the CYA reagent's added then time to test is limited. But the water sample itself is OK to be stored. I think I read somewhere that CYA should be tested at room temp - anyone know if that's correct?

    Confusing CYA results

Just circling back to this one to close the loop... The guys from CCL sent me out a new 50ppm (and a few bonus items for my trouble). I tested today & she was spot on the 50ppm mark. So problem solved and you can't be happier than that with the customer service from the guys at CCL.

    Confusing CYA results

She's a great resource. I was fortunate to stumble across the site just as our first pool install was being completed. So I've avoided the pool $tore learning curve! Still remember a work mate telling me the easiest way to clean your pool each week was to go out and throw a couple hundred...

    Confusing CYA results

Thanks mate. I touched base with them via fb. Apparently they had had a similar report from another customer recently. I need to order some more reagent so they're going to throw in another Standard solution.

    Confusing CYA results

Hi All, Hoping for some recommendations on what to do here. My Pool water is testing at approx 55ppm for CYA - which I'm recording as 60. I've got a Sample tube from the manufacturer (Clear Choice Labs) of 50ppm CYA. However when I test it the result is more like 100ppm, but definitely beyond...

    I made a pool logger

Hi Russ. I've been seeing a large variation in CSI between Poollogger and Pool Math and think I've just discovered why. Selecting Metric in PM also changes the default temp reading to Celsius, but choosing Metric in PL does not change the default temp setting (i.e. It stays as Fahrenheit) - thus...

    What the FLOCK??

I have the coping installer coming out later in the week to remove/replace a blemished tile. Due to the grinding needed on the mortar this is bound to make a nice fine mess of my sparkling pool :grrrr: I could bang on forever about the quality of the contractors who've done this install, but...

    Hiya from Sydney

I was in the same boat as you in relation to the test kits. Bit the bullet and purchased a salt water kit from Clear Choice (here). Transaction was effortless and product seems good quality.

Hi and welcome. Coincidently we almost went with Narrellan for our recent install. Great to see another Aussie on the forum. I'm a noob here but the good folk on this forum are quickly bringing me up to speed on what I need to know.

Ok cool. Thanks for that, I had no idea where to start it at and was leaning towards 25%. 75% makes more sense now that you mention it. Better to err on the side of too much FC. Thanks. The 80 reading was late afternoon, very dissipated light. The 60 reading was mid morning bright light at my...

After dropping another 700g of buffer in this morning the CYA was right up there this afternoon. FC: 10 CC: 0 PH: 7.2 CYA: 80 80 seems to be the recommended level for a SWG so hopefully it doesn't continue to rise overnight. I also tried a salt test with the kit for the first time (the...

Would be good to have each of these links to the other logs on each page. When you click on a link it saves the entered data and then moves to the link you have clicked. e.g. I click on the Test link from the home page. Enter test data, click on the notes link (from the test page), the data is...
