My good sir, I am in Tucson! I understand your plight. Lol. I actually am using both tabs and liquid to keep the CYA at ideal levels. Thank you for the assist with levers as well. I put two tabs in the canister and my chlorine jumped up to 9! Definitely turning it down this morning.

There’s a drain on the left, and the lower center piece has water pumping into the container when the pump is on. I thought it was an overfill drain, but that would be a huge waste of water? Can anyone tell me what this is?

Yessir, that is absolutely correct. The biggest thing I want to make sure, is that my wiring complies with all codes, and I'm not missing any safety steps in the shifting of the electrical that could endanger myself or anyone in the pool.
