    Seamless sand filter tank

Now that I have taken the old filter out, I am wondering what to do with it. Any ideas? I thought about cutting the top off and turning into a planter. My wife observed that it would be a big, ugly planter. :) But if I cut it down to be a planter, we could plant something that likes sandy soil...

    Seamless sand filter tank

Hey, folks. Just following up on this. Thanks for the great advice on contacting Hayward. While the rep I spoke with on the phone was not very nice, she did create a support ticket, which I completed and sent back. The next day, they shipped me a replacement tank at no cost to me. It arrived two...

    Looking for replacement chlorinator

The fitting I was struggling with was the female half of a union collar (I am probably not describing this part correctly) that screwed onto the chlorinator. The other end was screwed into in intake pipe in the MultIPort atop the tank. I discovered, at Leslie’s, that the MultIPort intake...

    Looking for replacement chlorinator

Went to two hardware stores today to find the right PVC fittings to remove the Chlorinator. Yowza, I am remembering what a racket the pool store guys have, with non-standard plumbing fittings. Got something at Lowe’s that fits, until you tighten it, and then it spins and doesn’t tighten it...

Advice on fastening solar heater to a new roof

Seems risky, true, but these panels are heavy. The angle of my roof is such that they are sliding very gradually. Still, I like the idea of a sturdier installation. @Pool_Medic , could I source such U brackets at a hardware store? Or would you recommend a different source? Thanks.

    Looking for replacement chlorinator

So, if I wanted to remove the chlorinator altogether and just treat the water directly, that seems viable to me. To boost chlorine levels, I sometimes put a puck in the filter basket. The chlorinator doesn’t seem to provide benefit, and it is usually a source of leaks. Bypassing it would...

    Seamless sand filter tank

If you had better luck with Hayward, maybe there’s a specific agent you know there, or better number to call? Maybe they just aren’t used to dealing directly with consumers.

    Seamless sand filter tank

Took a long time fo get through to Hayward. They gave me a really hard time, said they won’t be able to replace the filter outright, that I got bad information about that. They spent most of the call trying to get rid of me. The attitude was clear, that the defective filter was my problem, not...

Thanks for the tip. Not having to buy a new filter sounds great to me! I’ll call them.

    Seamless sand filter tank

The guys who installed the thing said all of the parts had only a one-year warranty. And I don’t think I ever got any paperwork. What you get from dealing with guys who operate out of a storage trailer and van, I guess. After they gouged me last year for a new pump and an amateur hour plumbing...

Advice on fastening solar heater to a new roof

I’m thinking of running a few beads of Liquid Nails or something like it, from top to bottom in four places and reglue the thing. If I have to remove the thing again, I guess I’ll ask the roofers to patch any shingles that come up. Better than risking the integrity of the roof. I just need to...
