I guess I didnt post my numbers well...by both tests (the yellow liquid in the block tester AND the DPD Powder) show a less than 1. So virtually no chlorine. Amazingly, my water looks clear....and we've had a lot of rain and it's Hot!!! I'll head to pool school and see what I need to add to...

    "Restarting"---here's my numbers

Hi all, I posted in the "getting started" forum the other day that it's been a while since I've been on here, but I'm back and ready to reclaim our pool. Our SWG has given up the ghost, so the pool guy we had was using tabs and probably some liquid chlorine. We're taking back the maintenance...

    It's been a while....and we need guidance!

Hi there! It's been a while since i've been on this forum. (True confessions:  we cheated and started using a pool guy.) But we realized that he wasn't doing any better job than what we were able to do on our own. So we're taking it back over. We've had a lot of rain recently. So I...

    Pump Sticker shock/Need advice!!

It's been a while since I've visited TFP. Forgot how much I like perusing the boards and soaking in all that you "experts" know!!!! :) My pool has been behaving lately, but now i'm having some equipment issues. I wandered into <Pinch-a-Penny> because the inside of my filter was...

    Newbie needing proper terminology!

Hi again! I realized after I had my "pipe" issue this week, that I've been referring to my pool parts incorrectly. The whole 'unit' is called the filter? And the white (sometimes! ) round, pleated thing is the 'cartridge'?? I need a new one of those (what I have been referring to as...

    I just broke a pipe... :(

Re: I just broke a pipe... :( UPDATE>>>Good News! Hallelujah!!!! It was only the "o-ring" inside the connection into the filter!!! A $2.49 part!!!!!! Can't tell you how happy that makes me!!!! Now, back to the cartridge. Anyone have a great (inexpensive!) place to buy???? Thanks...

    I just broke a pipe... :(

Thanks for the replies. If I didn't have my "over 40" eyes, I'd probably be ok. The label was on the back side and the print was so small that I needed to get eye-level with it. That's when I lost my balance and took a bad step. :( I'm going to have someone come out and look at it tomorrow...

    I just broke a pipe... :(

I"m so upset. I FINALLY got my pool where it should be. I d know that I desperately need a new cartridge for my filter, so I was looking at at it so I could know what to buy. The info is on the back, and as I wedged myself back in there, I stepped on a pipe. Thought I was OK, until I heard...

Taking the White Flag Down, putting up 'LET'S SWIM'!!!

I'm so happy!! Two weeks ago I posted that I was putting up the white flag in surrender. I felt like my pool had defeated me. But guess what? I thnk we'll actually be able to swim this weekend!!! What looked like a coi pond last weekend now is beginning to look like a lovely place to swim...

White flag still up, more questions....

Didn't know if I should post a new question or add on to my previous post. So I'm starting new. As my previous thread discussed, I am needing to get my pH down and my CYA up before shocking. I bought stabilizer yesterday and I'm ready to go. Two things holding me back: One, when I brushed my...

Re: Here's my White Flag, I'm ready to surrender. (w/test #' Nathan, you must have driven down my street!!! While the pool isn't at the lowest part of the lawn, it has some bad drainage areas around it. (Have some problems with pavers...but that's a whole different post!) What you're...

Re: Here's my White Flag, I'm ready to surrender. (w/test #' Thanks for the responses. Zea3, I have the TF-100 test kit. I have had it for over a year...how long are the chemicals good? OK, so I should turn the SWG OFF? And then lower the pH before raising the CYA? (I've NEVER been able to...

Here's my White Flag, I'm ready to surrender. (w/test #'s)

Hi TFP friends, You all have helped me tremendously over the past couple pool seasons. I am ready to raise my white flag in surrender right now, though. I am having a terrible time keeping up with the pool for numerous reasons, so I'm coming to you all for guidance, one more time. My biggest...
