Preparing to remove a pool - in ground vinyl

Thanks for the advice. Unless someone out there thinks that I shouldn't drain it, I'll start draining soon. 22,000 gallons down the drain.

Preparing to remove a pool - in ground vinyl

Thanks for the concerns, all. I have gotten about 8 bids for pool removal and spent most of last year researching options and planning it out. The long and short of it is the previous owners who put in the pool made several mistakes and the pool contractor didn't build it properly, so to keep...

Preparing to remove a pool - in ground vinyl

Hi all. Well, we've decided that it's time to remove the pool. It's just not cost effective to keep it and after much deliberation, we landed here. While we plan out the best way to remove it and coordinate with the excavators, what should I do with the pool? The pump is dead, so it's just going...

    Pump not turning on

In the meanwhile, the water is growing some wonderful algea. Really nice green stuff. Without the pump running, what's the best way to control to cholorinate without a pump running?

    Pump not turning on

Hi - I have a Superpump 1.5 HP and it's about 9 years old. The past two seasons, I have had to have the impeller manually started during startup. After I paid someone twice to do it, I finally learned how to do it myself! Anyway, this year, during startup, I flipped the on switch and the pump...

    Can't unscrew bolts on rail

Hi all. So, I spray it with WD40, waited overnight and still couldn't get the bolt to move. I then bought an attachment for my power drill to connect the socket. This worked and without the drill, I would not have been able to get it fixed. There was still a fair amount of pulling and wiggling...

At the risk of sounding uneducated, what does cross threaded mean?

    Can't unscrew bolts on rail

Hi all. Here I am, trying to close my pool without a company for the first time. And, I've encountered my first show stopper. I'm trying to remove the bolts on the hand rails, and 3 out of 4 bolts unscrewed fine. But this last bolt is a nightmare. I tried a socket and adjustable wrench, and...

    Concentrated Bleach

Yep, I just got busted on the splashless label too. Dumped in 2 jugs to shock it and now I have bubbles everywhere! What a PITA. Hopefully they go away soon. So disappointed that I missed this thread earlier.

    Pool Liner Coming Off

Hi all. My pool liner seems to be separating from the wall. So far, about 6" has come off. Is this something that I can fix myself? Is there harm is leaving it as is? We are currently debating if we should keep the pool (see other thread I wrote about how the pool was built if you want to read...

Time to make leap to TFPC method?

Hi all. Sorry for the delay in posting. I've had my pool for 5 seasons now; it came with the house. Every time it rains hard, my pool fills up with water and dirt and mud. Well, it rained hard and turned the water deep, dark brown. It's like someone dumped a half a yard of mulch in there! So...

Time to make leap to TFPC method?

What is the absolute first step? Hi - I'm new to posting here. I've read much on between this and another site about opening pools. I know this seems like a silly question but I had been opening in the past by just trying to get the CYA and FC levels up, and then balancing. Unfortunately...

Time to make leap to TFPC method?

I haven't made the leap to the SLAM method yet, but I'm thinking it's time. Either way, when I have first opened my pool, the amount of chlorine is huge. Killing anything that's been living in it over the winter has required 10 lbs of shock.
