Hello, and a question about CYA with a SWG

You can run the pump without generating chlorine. Just can't schedule it. It's in the instructions.

    conversion? questions first

Yes Yes Yes! Convert now! I was totally sold on BQ for about 5 yrs. then it all went to @#$%. I would not have converted if I had not found this site and the pool store guy sold me a clarifier that reacted with my BQ shock. So I took the "plunge". I did not realize how cloudy my pool has been...

Solar Powered Pump for Algae Plagued Wedding Cake Steps?

I have wedding cake steps and had always had problems w/ algae. esp. since I used to use Baquacil. I Took advice from some on TFP and drilled three 1 1/2 inch holes on the vertical surface of each step. I also drilled some new larger holes on the sides. The water flow has been greatly improved...

Need advice on new motor H.P. (zapped by lightening!)

Hi, Any advice on hp needed for 27' round 17500gal. filter is a hayward sand holding 200lbs. I replaced the pump before with a 1.5hp and I'm not sure if the pool originally came with a 1 or 1.5hp. Would a 1hp do the trick? (cheaper and uses less energy?) Thanks Geo

    Seriously considering the conversion... BUT

I used BQgoo for 8 years. The first few went well. It was downhill from there. I started with the paper like white mold, then the pink mold then the mustard algae, then the....you name it! I never realized how my water clarity had degraded because it happened gradually. Boy do I know now...

Help! We need light working before the 4th!

Many deck light systems have a 12v transformer. My Aqualuminator transformer went bad. I replaced it with a 12V transformer from a deck light system. You can buy at home deopt, Lowes, etc. Look on the cap that covers the connectors on the outside of the pool. Mine has the voltage and amps. on it.

Safety of putting bleach into the pool

The Baltimore municipal supply has 4ppm CL. I just received their annual water quality report. I tested it myself and got the same result. When you turn on the tap in the a.m., the chlorine smell is obvious (must come out of solution in the pipes). At normal maintenance levels, that's the same...

Best place to buy pool supplies

For testing: Imagine how pleasantly surprised I was to find that Taylor Technologies is about 10 miles from my house.... no shipping charges for me! They will sell direct, but they don't compete with their resellers on price. And if you pay shipping, for test reagents your best bet is to deal...

Do you keep your pump and filter on or off???

ANY electrical outlet in a potentially wet area should be on a GFCI circuit. A GFCI senses a fault or short situation and throws the breaker. Most outside circuits should be GFI. The breaker in the box may be GFI or a GFCI outlet may be used upstream from the pool outlet. Codes vary, so if you...

    When to run pump

I have read all the post i can find on pump run time. Could not find the answer to these questions: Should run time be split or continuous? Is it better to run pump during the day vs. night or does it not matter?
