Baquacil to Chlorine Conversion - need reassurance!

It's possible. I had absolutely no goop as well. I did my conversion upon opening the pool in April, so I assume that the biguanide was just gone. I chemically cleaned my filter before putting it away last season, and couldn't even find any goop in there after it was all done. My conversion was...

    Had a visitor yesterday

If my wife saw that in our pool, I am pretty sure my FC would be about 350 by the time I got home from work.

My user name says it all!

Back when I was on biguanide that would have been a good water day! Congratulations, You're on the right track and will be crystal clear in no time.

Nasty Black Pool Inherited from Home Purchase

Hi Swampwoman. That is a 2" duplex filter. Depending on your level of filtration they clog up very fast and are quite a workout to operate sometimes. You only filter with one cylinder at a time, and when it clogs you switch to the other and clean the first. If the water is really bad, you won't...

Nasty Black Pool Inherited from Home Purchase

That was me... I am not sure what it would cost for a homeowner to rent one. I think our cost is about $70 a day... It does a 20,000 gallons tank in about 4 hours. I bet this could be built out of PVC for home use as well, and the 1 micron filter bags are only $5-10 each.

Howdy Neighbor... Welcome to the forum! You already threw the first punch at the Baquacil so keep bleaching it till it dies. I got super lucky and mine went code brown right away then cleared over night. You won't be sorry when you see how much better the water clarity is.

Just bought house with pool---probably hasn't been opened in 3 years...

I'm pretty new to the swimming pool thing, but I've been in the waste water industry for a decade now. I'm wondering if it is just not more feasible to rent a duplex filter from Baker, Rain for Rent, Adler, etc and a trash pump and double down on the filtration.

    Gearjammer Saying Hello

FC must have taken a massive beating from the sun yesterday. It fell from 13 at dawn back to 1 at 5:30 pm. I dissolved a pound of dichlor in a bucket and tossed it in last night. FC held at 10 all night, and I dropped two pucks in the skimmer basket this morning. According to pool math I am...

Thanks for the merge. I have a basic understanding, I just want to be sure as having such a small pool makes it much easier to overshoot the mark.

Conversion went much better than expected. Pool looks amazing and holds chlorine overnight. I am wondering if I can bring my CYA up with bags of dichlor and or trichlor tabs, (Which I have access to for free) or if you think it would take too long?

    Battling cloudy water all summer

The ladder was my culprit. I fought hard for weeks to improve clarity. It didn't happen until I pulled the ladder out and scrubbed it, as well as the area it had been obscuring.
