    Keeping debris out of pool

The skimmer is a neat idea. Although 99.9% of what I'm fighting is so small it goes right through the skimmer basket. The sock is always full to the top. Without the sock it would be in the pump basket or it even goes through that into the sand filter. So unfortunately the skimmer guard will...

    Keeping debris out of pool

This year more than all of the previous 20 plus years I've had the pool I'm struggling keeping leaves, seeds and blossoms out of the pool. The filter basket is jammed full overnight and in the day. When I'm home, I'm emptying it every few hours to keep up, but overnight or during the day when...

    Open terminal bulb replacement

No, I would have to do a lot of digging and removal of the concrete deck.

    Open terminal bulb replacement

I'll try to take some pictures, but the water is still too cold to stay in. I've got to get into the water to unscrew the bottom screw, I just can't get at it from the surface.

    Open terminal bulb replacement

I have access to the backside of the bulb. Once I unscrew the cover plate the bulb drops out and there is enough wiring to pull it to the surface.

    Open terminal bulb replacement

I think this might be the bulb. I'm not sure what the difference is between the Par36 and the AL14. Both look very similar and both I believe run on 12V. The wiring from the pool shell socket just comes and connects on the back of the bulb and then the bulb gets installed in the housing built...

    Open terminal bulb replacement

I have an open terminal bulb. AL14 style bulb. The first bulb held 15 years and now I'm replacing the bulb every year or so. Since the terminals are open in the back and I'm replacing the bulb in the water I'm wondering if that is contributing to the failure of the bulb? There is no housing...

    Replacing Pipes...What Should I Use?

If your concerned about replacing the pipe in the future or protecting the pipe you could run your choice of pipe inside another one. For instance if your choose the poly pipe, you could run it inside of a 4" flex drain pipe typically used for draining foundations. This pipe is super cheap and...

Solar covers - Gold, silver, black, clear?

I purchased the clear this year and it works far better at heating the water and keeping it warm. But I hate it. It looks ugly. I much prefered the cheap blue one I had. The clear is more white than clear. I also, have a problem with rolling it up. All of the other covers rolled up without...

Went on Vacation for 10 days and Came back to a Sparkly Pool

Have you tried X10.com? They sell all sorts of cameras, motion detectors and interfaces to VCRs for you to record just such a thing. They also have night vision cameras and interfaces to the net. Cheers, Walter

    Problems Skimming

Thanks. Water level is generally half way, but sometimes with all the rain lately it creeps up. I always try to keep is at least way half way, since I am gone a lot and I don't want the pump running dry. Walter

Help me build a 20x40 pool...

When I built mine I hired a bunch of guys who did this for a living. It was a friend of mine in the business and he went and got his buddies. They all came and did it on the week end. 2 Days from digging until the water went in. Concrete decking was done on another weekend. One guy did the...

    Hello from Ayr, Ontario

Hello all, I just wanted to introduce myself. There seems to be lots of interesting discussions and I am always trying to learn something new. I have had my pool now for 9 years, it's on it's second liner (never go away for the summer and allow people to use it). I look forward to reading...

    Problems Skimming

Hello all, I have a 26K gallon pool with which I am having problems keeping the surface clean. Debris seems to float around, but not make it into the skimmer the way you would think it should. The pool shape is basically 2 circles with the larger 20ft across and the smaller 16ft across. The...
