    Pool Professionals

Richard, I am not holding my breath on Europe reversing their decision for use of Borates in Swimming pools.. Yet again another fine example of Europe making a decision and completely over reacting based upon ignorance and lack of understanding. It is a real shame as I firmly believe Borates...

    Pool Professionals

Thanks Duraleigh, well I do not get any complaints and plenty of compliments on the quality of the water and on the whole I know that my work is appreciated which is what makes the job so enjoyable.

    Pool Professionals

Being a pool tech myself I can fully understand a lot of the bad press that we get and I must admit on the whole it is richly deserved. I get to test a lot of other peoples pools and to be honest most are in a dire state. In the last 5 years I have only ever tested one pool maintained by a...

    Automatic Chlorinator Dangers

I have the Palintest Pro 9 which is a very accurate photometer. I have check tubes where I check the calibration once a week to ensure my field readings are accurate.

    Automatic Chlorinator Dangers

I recently started looking after a communal pool with a puck chlorinator fitted... Before I even analysed the water I knew things were going to be bad but was not expecting a CYA reading of over 400 PPM's. I soon ripped the Dang thing out and installed a liquid chlorinator. Seriously Puck...

    Leak detector

This is a new leak detector system invented by the French. It is quite a good system as I've been using it for a few months now and it is very good at finding leaks. See what you think. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... r4jh4F6AdY

Dry Ice (Solid CO2) added to pool for Halloween effects.

SWCG, same problem different cause. I think Richard posted somewhere why PH's rise so much with these, I do maintain one private pool with one fitted and have the same high PH/low TA problems.

Dry Ice (Solid CO2) added to pool for Halloween effects.

Thanks Richard that is a good explanation of why I get such high PH rises with the addition of Sodium Bicarb. I mix my Sodium Bicarb thoroughly and pour it into the deep end of the pools so that it quickly sinks to the bottom. Oh and Europe is not only years behind you guys in the States in how...

Dry Ice (Solid CO2) added to pool for Halloween effects.

Richard I hear what you are saying, but.. In my situation where I use a great deal of liquid chlorine which despite what anybody else says raises the PH quite a bit. I use small amounts of acid to drop the PH but as we all know the TA drops as well, any introduction of Sodium Bicarb to counter...

Dry Ice (Solid CO2) added to pool for Halloween effects.

Yes I've been reading about CO2 injectors and some state that the Alkalinity rises others that it does not but on the whole it appears the majority say that it does not. Dry Ice is not really an option here in Europe as it is quite expensive so I'll have a look at professional CO2 automated...

Dry Ice (Solid CO2) added to pool for Halloween effects.

Thanks very much, that is pretty much what I thought which is good news, a perfect way to drop PH without effecting Alkalinity..

bobodaclown if I may inquire did the dry ice have any effect on your Alkalinity?

Is chlorine more effective with a lower pH?

All the pools I maintain (13 of them) have a PH of 7.6 to 7.8 and most are public pools and I don't have any problems with my HOCl levels. I also have the lower end ALK so a high PH really helps my balance. When considering what levels you are going to have never take them in isolation but...

    FAS/DPD reagent

Well if there other kits are anything like the ColorQ ones I'd avoid them, I had two of their ColorQ and when I tested them brand new against buffer solutions the readings were miles out, suffice to say I sent them back and bought myself the more expensive but highly accurate Palintest Pooltest9...

White buildup on tile at water line, help!

If you want to prevent constant PH spikes you will need to reduce your waters ability to rapidly change the PH by lowering your Alk and raising your PH as per Chemgeeks chart found here... https://www.troublefreepool.com/~richardfalk/pool/CO2.htm The more carbon dioxide you have in the...
