Cloudy Water after Stain Treatment and CYA Addition

Hi, Got my DPD powder and other chemicals from TFTestKits and decided to test my water. I've done this in the past. This time (I repeated three times) it showed my free chlorine at 1 and my CC's at 17. Yes, 17. 35 drops of 0-871. Can this even be possible? My water is clear as day. I can't...

Cloudy Water after Stain Treatment and CYA Addition

Update. Still waiting on my DPD powder. Hoping it's here today. I've run DE through the filter every day with a backwash 24 hours later. The issue has improved somewhat. Not quite as milky. I also ran my bot with a really fine filter, and it picked up tons of whiteish, sparkly fine particles...

Cloudy Water after Stain Treatment and CYA Addition

Thanks for your replies. I'm hoping it's just filtering, too. If so, what is a reasonable timeframe to expect? Days, weeks, longer? Been around six days or so at least. Of course my DPD powder is expired since I have had a perfect pool for years and never needed it. I'm going to have to hit up...

Cloudy Water after Stain Treatment and CYA Addition

Thanks for the reply. I've used the DE three times and backwashed 24 hours later each time. It is DE for pools. I have not done an overnight chlorine loss test, but I will. I did not use any algeacide before. I did the stain treatment 12 days ago, and it's been six days since I brought the...

Cloudy Water after Stain Treatment and CYA Addition

Hi, Been following the methods here for almost four years. In that time I've never had a cloudy pool or had any color whatsoever. Liquid, baking soda, acid only. When I had my pool resurfaced in 2020 (concrete) the ground water they used to fill it left a slight yellowing from the tannins. I...

Cloudy Water When Adding Chlorine - Sequestrants

    1. It's well water. I have a tricky pool in the country on a lake. Super difficult to empty. I'll have it tested but assuming it has both iron and copper. Since completing draining and refilling is not an option, is there a hose filter or something that can be used to partially refill and fill...

Cloudy Water When Adding Chlorine - Sequestrants

Liquid chlorine straight from the pool store. I do have a pool company that cleans will still throw a couple of tabs in without my knowledge. That would explain the high CYA. He's been reprimanded. I am on well water, the pool was actually filled straight from the ground.

Cloudy Water When Adding Chlorine - Sequestrants

Whenever I add any amount of chlorine (more than a cup or two) I instantly get a cloud. I have a metal problem, copper and iron, and regularly use sequestrants. I am assuming this is the root cause. Can someone explain to me why and how that works and how to attack those kinds of issues? I'd be...

    Post Resurfacing Green Tint Water

Thank you! I was especially happy you provided a link to the hose filter. I figured that was my long term answer for adding water and wasn't sure of what brand was recommended.

    Post Resurfacing Green Tint Water

I have been brushing twice a day and now once a day. Majority of dust is gone. I had to backwash often at first and now down to once a day backwash. Going to have the sand replaced. The pump has been on 24-7 for three weeks solid. The water is crystal clear. Someone thought it might be copper...

    Post Resurfacing Green Tint Water

Hello, We had our pool resurfaced a couple of weeks ago. It was done in a standard marcite finish. Due to some issues, we had to fill with both well and ground water (which was surprisingly clear). The guy started up the water with Jacks Magenta and Blue stuff, some additive to my sand filter...
