Yeah, I'm no math wizard, but I reckon going from 2" to a 1" is cutting that flow in half. From what I've read, GPM is where it's at. Keeping the flow going is best.

so, one pump pulls 12/3.5 amps (hi/lo?), the other pulls 10amps. My heater is a C&R SPECIALTIES 15" FLOW THRU HEATER 5.5KW. Can't locate the amperage. But, with the pumps pulling 22amps, surely the 35amp wire will be ok? The heater isn't going to pull 13 amps, right??

hmmm just checked the allied wire and cable soow table, it says 8/4 only has a 35 amp rating... thats gonna be an issue....

Picked up a 1994 cal spa off CL. 8x8, dual pumps, PS 4B pack, no air, cover, fresh cartridge. leveled it, framed it, filled it up. Ran a temp wire (6ga aluminum) just to see if it worked. GFCI works, pumps work, PS4 works. Never got to the heater, the jets weren't coming on. Hit the booster pump...
