Poolside Planters - show them off!

Not too much frost here but the segos in my pics are at least 25 years old. Even if all the fronds fall off they may grow back. I heard of one story of a guy who pulled one out with no fronds and after two seasons on the side of the yard, replanted it in sand and it sprouted enough roots to...

Poolside Planters - show them off!

Sego palms. The name is a misnomer as they are cycads not palms and need to be fed differently. They grow slow but also are very hearty for the same reason. I'll get a newer pic sometime as the landscaping has grown in since this pic. 😁 fyi also these segos were replanted from around my pond...

Second year, I have mystery algae in the vacuum hose.

Outdated cleaner? It's 3 years old. 😁 The cleaner is on the same pump as the skimmers, a valve switches between the two so I wouldn't save a pump. (I have three pumps total).Electricity is a non issue as last year PG&E owed me $30. (Solar) I appreciate the ideas though and I'll look up the...

Second year, I have mystery algae in the vacuum hose.

In guessing the swg helps keep the fc a bit more consistent. I'm trying to decide if I slam again, pull the hose and try a deep clean on it or buy a new hose. Hose is only on its 3rd year though.

My guess is the difference is water temp. You're in OK. I'm in central cali and also have a dark bottom pool. We get the water easily in the 90+ degree for many months. Perfect for algae to grow.

Yup, just takes a bit more acid though. The four firepots have waterfalls too. 😂

Second year, I have mystery algae in the vacuum hose.

FC been at over 6 for easily a week after the slam. Stuff still in the hose but I'm assuming it's now dead algae that is caught in the ridges. Can't take the hose out every day as the connection location requires me to be in the pool. (And I'm not jumping in daily at 5am to put it back in for...

Yes I add it daily or every other day if it drops too much.

Second year, I have mystery algae in the vacuum hose.

Yes I slammed it according to to specs. I'll see how it looks over the next three days as I will have family in the pool alot. I'm hoping the slam cleared up the hose but if not I'll have to slam again but at a higher level I guess.

Second year, I have mystery algae in the vacuum hose.

Yes suction cleaner runs with one of my pumps. Runs every day for 3 hours out of the 7 hour cycle i run in the mornings. Stays in pool 24/7. I leave it in during slam. Yeah I need to update my signature.😄

Poolside Planters - show them off!

It really is. Here is the trick all the waterfalls except the main are sheers so the sound is very minimal. On the main waterfall i had them free from the granite edge to break up the water tension. I have three speeds for the main water fall and the max setting will drown out all sound if i...

Second year, I have mystery algae in the vacuum hose.

The vacuum hose is on the robot that sucks up the debris from the bottom of the pool. It is on every day for three hours. Any ideas as to why that is the only area i see an outbreak when I see the few algae patches on the grout too? They seem different but related somehow? Fyi when I do a...

Poolside Planters - show them off!

I had them build in my planters. One in the front to add color and height and the back ones to break up the waterfalls. (and for a place to replant my sago's which I was not willing to give up)
