bleach question

Lol I accidentally added splashless a few weeks ago after my husband brought it home on accident. Splashless Clorox is not a pool sanitizer. If you add it, you will have soapy bubbles for a few days. You need to buy unscented 8% bleach...typically generic store brand is $3/gallon.

    CH BuildUP

My CH was at 750 last summer but through rainwater, it's down to around 450. It's not a huge deal, but I keep my ph at 7.2 to keep my calcium saturation index (CSI) in check to avoid getting calcium scale on my tile. You will see by plugging in numbers to the pool calc that the easies way to...

    CSI question

Re: CSI From what I understand, if your csi is too high (above .6), then you will get calcium deposits, and if it's too low (below -.6) your water will try to correct itself by leaching minerals out of your plaster and can cause pitting and rough areas on the surface of your pool. The fastest...

just want to be sure i am doing the right thing

I dunno about closing the pool for winter, but I just read all three pages hoping for a pic. :) An easy way to post a pic is to go to tinypic.com. After you upload your pic to their site, copy and paste the second line of code, then paste it in the comment box. I prefer tinypic because you don't...

Inline chlorinator not producing chlorine in pool

Cool thanks! I put some in my skimmer for now. The pucks in the inline chlorinator have gotten wet and look slightly eroded but not 5 days worth of use. I wonder if there is a blockage at the bottom because it seems like water is entering the top. Hopefully the skimmer trick get some cya and...

Inline chlorinator not producing chlorine in pool

Good question! I don't want to drop $40 on cya when I already have it at home...trapped in my half full bucket of chlorine pucks. ;) I do t want to use a floater because about 20 years ago my brother went to the hospital for chlorine inhalation because he was playing with the floating...

Inline chlorinator not producing chlorine in pool

Hello, I typically use the trouble free pool method with bleach. However with splash out and heavy rains, my cya level has dropped from 70 to around 25. My pool is chewing through a ton of bleach...maybe 3 or 4 gallons a week. It was much easier to maintain proper chlorine levels when my cya...

    Liquid Chlorine Northwest Houston, Texas

I have a Super Target near my house that has a full grocery store inside. I think the trouble free pool method is becoming more popular because the shelves are stocked and cleared out every few days. My people! :) Walmarts great value brand is also $3/ gallon if you don't have a super target...

Bottles of chlorine are marked with the day and year it was made?

Split off of here. Please ask questions in your own topic. JasonLion Wait...bottles of chlorine are marked with the day if the year it was made? Cool I just checked my Clorox and it was made on day 175 too.

    Algae Problems

Okay so you are in the south! It's been incredibly rainy. My cya was at 70, but now it's around 30 because it's been incredibly rainy here. The good news is that you only need 2-6 ppm of chlorine and that's easy to maintain. Unfortunately 1 trichlor puck a week won't do it. Each trichlor puck...

    Algae Problems

I agree...no tabs unless you are going on vacation. I've gotten heavy rains this season and I will bump up my chlorine by adding a gallon of bleach during a heavy rainstorm. It's not exactly scientific and the true TFP mods might not like my advice. I do know that 1 gallon will raise my FC by...

TFPC is Actually Kind of Boring...

I know what you mean. When I got home from a 2 1/2 week vacation, I had a little bit of algae. I had a blast scrubbing my walls and SLAMing my pool. It felt awesome to have the necessary info to raise and maintain my chlorine level without buying magical potions. Now I'm back to sparkly perfect...
