    24' liner issues

Besides using a shop vac. you will also want to ensure you are stretching that liner on a warm sunny day.

SWG recommendation for above ground pool

24ft round AG pool. Have successfully used Intex SWG for years, but my spare broke last season and I am not a fan of new models. Any recommendations for a "real" swg on a AG pool budget? Pump is a pentair superflo 2speed (230v) and on a dedicated timer. Thanks

    Back in town

Reintroducing myself;) ...Gosh life comes at 'ya fast. This forum has been so great to me since I found it in 2009, learned the TFP principles, was a moderator for a while and then work took my life over :<(....my last post was in 2013??? That said what I have learned here over the years has...

    Gel like substance?

I would just spray the thermometer with some bleach to be safe and throw it back in the pool. I'd keep FC in the 4-6 range, especially with the summer heat.

A friend with a strange problem?

Bingo...The OCLT should be done as soon as possible, and if needed start the shock process. After you are done shocking, you can raise CYA to 70pmm and maintain FC around 3-4ppm

New pool owner looking for advice

Welcome to TFP Walmart unscented bleach is 8.25% as well as Clorox Unscented...it's the same stuff and offers other options. FPM gets a great deal. 4 gals of 10% pool store shock (bleach) in NY will run you about $16-18...but nowhere near $8/gallon. If you have not done so yet...take a read...

    Green pool........... new pool owner

Yes, run the pump/filter 24x7 untill done shocking. Add enough chlorine to bring FC up to shock level (or a little higher) With CYA at 50, you shock level is closer to 20ppm Repeat as frequently as practical, but not more than once per hour, and not less than twice a day, until: CC is 0.5...

    What to do about CYA?

I doubt it may be bad r-0013, but in case you need to confirm TFtestkits.net sells a 50ppm CYA test solution, so you can use that to guage/calibrate current test results.

Constantly adding acid since starting the BBB. ????

As you continue to add acid, your TA will also drop and the rate of PH rise will also decrease. Do you happen to have high TA fill water?

    HUGE free chlorine loss

Welcome to TFP. Your FC is way above shock level CYA of 50 = shock level of 20ppm. One would expect FC loss at levels that high during daylight of roughly 50%, so your loss is not drastic. Even dropping from 42ppm to 37ppm is not that drastic...the key to the overnight FC loss test is to...

    New pool supply man

How are you testing the PH and alkalinity? Those are my 1st concerns as if your TA is truly zero, the PH is likely around 4.5 and can damage your pool surface/equipment. If those are accurate readings, I would suggest raising PH to 7.2 using Borax as soon as possible. Then you can worry about...

    low (no) chlorine/high pH

Add bleach to raise your FC level. The SWG is for maintenance of FC levels and should not be relied on for raising FC.
