    Foam rope in line

Thanks, that's pretty much what I ended up doing. Garden hose at the pump wrapped in a dish towel to seal and shop vac at the skimmer.

    Foam rope in line

What's the best way to retrieve a foam rope that has moved down the line after opening my skimmer plug? Just a shop vac on suction? I tried a garden hose at the pump and it pushes all the air out but the rope didn't come with it.

Opening with Aqua Genie return below water line

I am about to open my pool for the first time after installing a safety cover. The water level is nice and high from the snow melt but is this a potential problem if the return of my skimmer is below the water line? As part of winterizing I put a thick rubber insert at the return to keep water...

Backwashing doesn't seem to lower pressure

Thanks for all the tips guys, and gals, water is slowly clearing, no longer green. Do you need to replace the DE after each backwash? Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk

Backwashing doesn't seem to lower pressure

After cleaning the filter I am now thinking it is an algae bloom despite my never seeing any CC in my tests. I put a white dishtowel in front of the return and did not notice anything being caught. The deep clean did clean out some cloudy water but it wasn't filled with crud like a lot of...

Backwashing doesn't seem to lower pressure

Yes, this is my first full season with the pool. We have upgraded the pump and heater and was thinking we may have to do the filter as well since I have no idea how much maintenance was done. It seemed like they took pretty good care of everything but it is not a new pool by any means. I have...

Backwashing doesn't seem to lower pressure

The shop vac method seems to work, I was able to do a couple of cycles of cleaning by taking the water off the top and then using the garden hose without overflowing but will have to wait for the weekend to really do a full clean. What is the likelihood that the dirt in my pool is actually...

Backwashing doesn't seem to lower pressure

I did this last night and there was 0 loss overnight, 3.5ppm at night and this morning before the sun hit the pool. The water is still cloudy and the dirt settles to the bottom. I backwashed again this morning (always with rinse at the end) but did not see any drop in pressure; it stayed at 24...

Backwashing doesn't seem to lower pressure

I've posted about my cloudy pool before here and was able to clear it up by slamming and it didn't go clear until I regularly backwashed. The same thing is happening again and again I have what I think is near-perfect water, see below for numbers. This time though when backwashing the pressure...

    Beginning of algae bloom?

Another question, is it safe to swim at shock levels of chlorine? My nephew is coming over during the day and my wife is wondering if it's still ok for him to swim? The pool is blue today but still not crystal clear, FC was at 14 this morning so lost very little overnight.

    Beginning of algae bloom?

I'm not sure how old it is, it came with the house we bought last summer and is the last piece of equipment we haven't replaced yet. I did backwash this evening but the pressure is still fairly high.

    Beginning of algae bloom?

In the past week my pool water has been consistently cloudy. Brushing the bottom shows a fine brownish layer but water chemistry all looks to be good as far as I can tell (see below). Overnight loss of FC is <1ppm, I am attempting my first SLAM, keeping FC up at 15, running the filter...
