Oops, What do I do now???

The cell was still generating chlorine just fine at the time by the way. Just the controller stopped lighting up for the second time in a couple of months.

Oops, What do I do now???

I paid a guy $300 to remove my SWG system and put in a chlorine feeder. I still have the equipment and may consider putting it back in at some point. I guess it would just be some plumbing and wiring it back in but would need to fix the issue with the controller first. It seemed like a bad...

Oops, What do I do now???

Moved from here... Should I Convert from Ozone to SWG?? Well now I'm sick to my stomach. I had a SWG and was doing mostly fine with the TFP protocol. I had a spell where I got extra busy with work and my vacuum stopped working at the same time and got a small algae infection but knocked it out...

DE on bottom of pool after filter grid replacement

Ugh. Sounds like its time for a pool guy. And that I will never again attempt to clean the filter myself. So much effort to just screw it up. I took it all apart and spent most of a day cleaning the grids only to find the last one was broken. Called to see if the grids were available at the...

DE on bottom of pool after filter grid replacement

I don't know why but I haven't been able to post. But here's what I found... Adding .5 lb of DE did not produce cloudiness coming through the returns. The DE has kind of showed up in different places. I found it in the spa but that was when I was running just the pool drain. When I run both...

DE on bottom of pool after filter grid replacement

Thanks James. I'll give it a try this evening and let you know what I find.

DE on bottom of pool after filter grid replacement

but if I put too much DE in couldn't I be increasing the pressure in the filter? another related question is if I have to wait a certain amount of time before adding chemicals after the DE filter cleanout? Is there a certain amount of time that it needs to set in or anything?

DE on bottom of pool after filter grid replacement

I just replaced the grids in my Hayward DE6020 and fed 7.5 lbs of DE in through the skimmer yesterday evening. Today there appears to be a few small piles of it on the bottom of the pool. I thought it would all stick to the filter grids. Did I feed it in too quickly perhaps? What can I do to fix it?

DE Filter Screen Broken - Can I bypass filter and circulate while waiting for parts?

I'd ordered some socks for the skimmer but they didn't get here in time. I'll look for a t-shirt. I was planning on cleaning out the cell soon anyway. I guess that's next weekend's project.

DE Filter Screen Broken - Can I bypass filter and circulate while waiting for parts?

It's 68 now. Do you mean run the pump? I would have to bypass the filter somehow and I'm not sure what does that yet. It's the Hayward DE6020. There's settings for filter, backwash, rinse, closed, waste, and recirculate on the multi-port valve. I kind of need to run it because I'm still a little...

DE Filter Screen Broken - Can I bypass filter and circulate while waiting for parts?

New member and new pool owner. I've been reading a lot here about pool chemistry and was focusing on getting that right first and was pretty close so I started to dig into filter maintenance. I read the sticky on the DE filter cleaning and was going through that procedure when I noticed that one...

Adjusting Calcium Hardness - double checking before I adjust

I was hoping for that answer. :) Thanks Dave.

Adjusting Calcium Hardness - double checking before I adjust

The PoolMath calculator said I needed to add 261oz of calcium chloride to get from 250ppm to 350ppm. I'm going on the suggestion in the Water Balance for SWG post. That's 16lbs of calcium chloride! Sounds like a lot to me so I wanted to double check here before I did something like this. And...
