    Cloromax in pool

Bubbles are still there, but WAY less than 2 days ago. Going today to get plain bleach, which is what i've used (bbb) for 5 years now. Just to be clear, @mknauss: this was a mistake, not a conscious choice. Had i realized it was different i would not have used it.

    Cloromax in pool

I just (yesterday) dropped 9 bottles into a 29000 gal pool that has just had it cya level set at 50. Are you telling me that i have to drain, refill, then new cya and bleach? ****. I didn't even notice the difference, until I saw the surface bubbles. Oh man this sucks.

Question about timing of tests and adding stuff

Ok I made a mistake in my abbreviations. I am talking about chlorine. and CYA. I use the daily test kit first, then the TF big test kit. I added the powder and the color did not change at all. I did not test for combined chlorine. I realized that the CYA should not have leached from the...

Question about timing of tests and adding stuff

I was leery about adding CYA, only because I thought that it should not leave the pool. There has not been a major change of pool water. Some rain, some refill after backwashing. That's why I was concerned about whether the CH level affects CYA readings.

Question about timing of tests and adding stuff

2 weeks ago CYA was 40. I thought that the lack of chlorine would skew the CYA readings. Its that mistaken?

Question about timing of tests and adding stuff

My pool is 33900 gallons. I have been using BBB method for over a year, but testing today my CYA = 0 and FC =0. (Lots of sunshine and high temps this summer, plus I haven't been as obsessive about monitoring). Not a problem , I added bleach to bring CH = 12. Let that swirl around. How long...

    Question about water loss

Good Idea, PAGirl, Thanks! ...can't do it tonight because it's raining (I hate having to pump out the cover again once the pool is opened.) I'm doing the bucket test though.

    Question about water loss

What would be a "normal" water loss? It's been pretty warm her with little rain. It looks like I may be losing 1 to 1.5 inches per day.

My funky journey to getting my pool right.

Okay. Don't mess with PH until FC is in the normal range - got it. User error is a distinct possibility. I have not added ANY chlorine since the 8/10/12 night test. This morning's numbers (8/12/12) FC =14.5 (note this is up again from last night's test which was FC =13) CC = 0 as an aside...

My funky journey to getting my pool right.

8/11/12 - today's evening test results: FC = 13 CC = 1 PH= 7.2 TA = 70 According to the pool calculator To raise my PH from 7.2 to 7.5, I need to add - 76oz of Borax and to raise my TA from 70 to 80, I need to add - 4lbs 10oz of Baking Soda But the water look so clear and sparkly now, I'm...

My funky journey to getting my pool right.

    Update... used some POP for a few days...pool reacting ncely. Right now pool looks BEAUTIFUL. numbers are stable except for FC...It has RISEN since yesterday. on 8/10 test 8:29am: FC=17 CC = .5 PH =7.2 On 8/10 test - 6:25pm: FC=15.5 CC= .5 PH= 7.2 8/10 - 9:01pm (after dark) FC= 14 CC = .5...

1141 pm after vacuuming to waste, and adding water to replace the pumped out water: FC = 21 CC = 0 not dropping so quickly. but pool definitely clearer.
