Good point. It had hair of coarse, a rubber o-ring and a small nail. Weird huh? I died right after I put in the D.E. through the strainer.

That sounds about right. It is strange, but something is dragging on the motor and making it heat up, the impeller is the only thing it could be.

The total HP is 3/4 horse for the motor. The part number for the old impeller is sp-3010-c. I took it back apart tonight to look for signs of wear and tear or if something was rubbing. Nothing! Yes It did check that.

I understand. I guess what is puzzling me is why did the 3/4 hp motor work fine with the 1 hp impeller until i put on a new one that was the exact same thing?
