    Crack repair - Gunite pool

Had this crack prior to the pool remodel, PB says he "epoxied" the crack, but after it rains, water seeps out of it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if he epoxied it, should it not allow ground water to pass through it? PB says the gunite (when installed) seals the pool.

1st pool start up after remodel or new construction-construction debris in the lines

We're nearing the end of our pool remodel. There is small gravel/stones and dirt in the bottom of the skimmer lines (under the baskets) and small rocks in the pool and spa drains. I asked the PB why they didn't block off the lines (like with a sponge) during the remodel, he said, "we'll clean...

    Pool deck drain question

Yes, tie the downspouts into 4 inch underground drain. You may have to pop a hole in the patio deck to get the foreground downspout to the underground drain. Also suggest deck drains.

    Travertine deck drainage question

I did not check the water flow prior to the drainage lines being covered up, I was at work during the install. I'm thinking about doing a "flow test". I'll pour two gallons of water in at the farthest point, shop vac the water up as it comes out the exit and remeasure. If two gallons come...

    Travertine deck drainage question

We're nearing the 3/4 mark to the end of our pool remodel, we've had a travertine deck installed. Under the deck is 4" PVC that is tied into our roof gutter/downspouts. Along the way, it picks up water coming from the deck (center drains). After a rain or when I pour water in the drain...

Pool wall being built, what do you think?

Pool remodel is under way, tile and coping are in, we added a wall behind the pool and a wall that surrounds the spa. Both walls built within a week or so of each other. The stone is lueders limestone. Here are the pics. To me they used the good stones on the pool wall and the leftovers on...

Pool remodel contract question - is it normal to pay the FINAL pmt BEFORE Plaster?

We met with the PB salesman, he amended the contract to pay 30% at start (of tear out), 30% at completion of tile/coping, 30% at completion of deck install, 5% at start of plaster and 5% at of start up of pool. So there will be about $4000 of hold back which will pay at the end. We signed the...

Pool remodel contract question - is it normal to pay the FINAL pmt BEFORE Plaster?

Re: Pool remodel contract question - normal to pay the FINAL pmt BEFORE Plaster? He says a day after plaster, pool gets filled (25k gallons), balance, one brushing & vac by PB, then we take over the brushing twice a day for 7 days. I'll talk to two of my friends that used this builder and see...

    New Katy Texas Build (Houston)

We're getting a remodel, PB says no salt, no heat and no auto pool vac (IIRC) for 30 days. Sounds like it could be right on the no salt for that long....

Pool remodel contract question - is it normal to pay the FINAL pmt BEFORE Plaster?

About to sign a pool remodel contract, reputable PB/Remodeler says 30% at start, 30% at tile/coping, 30% at decking, the final 10% is to be paid day of (prior to) plaster install. That leaves 100% of the money paid before ALL work is completed. He says this is not negotiable. Is this normal?

Remodel questions - Beadcrete ok to use? What about a Travertine tile deck?

Re: Remodel questions - Beadcrete ok to use? What about a Travetine tile deck? Thanks for all the replies, they are appreciated! I would expect some of the beads will disengage over time, just curious if it's a lot or a little. My understanding is that only approved installers can install...

Remodel questions - Beadcrete ok to use? What about a Travertine tile deck?

We're about to jump into a pool remodel. We love the look of beadcrete by Pebbletec and are wondering about the long term viability of the product. Not too many hits for it using the search feature, mostly older posts. Right now, we have 25 year old gunite and want to upgrade. Your thoughts...
