Leak - Water level drops then stops

Thanks for the reply. I have done the bucket evaporation test and definitely have evaporation, but not at the same rate. Once i posted the picture I did notice the cracks around the skimmer that need to be repaired.

Leak - Water level drops then stops

Hi, I have a leak somewhere in my pool but I do not know where to start. I do not have an operational water filler, so I manually do it. When I fill it to its normal level (see picture), the level will slowly drop over 4-5 days to the lower water level (see picture) then it stops. It will not...

Swimming with high CYA and Chlorine

If my CYA was in the 30 range, would I still expect to use a gallon a day?

Swimming with high CYA and Chlorine

Hi, I have a 22k gallon plaster pool, Triton II - TR60 filter and a 1HP motor. I just looked into reverse osmosis but it cost about $700 which is way more than I care to spend right now with everything going on. It will cost $120 to refill it when I'm ready. Do you have any other suggestions...

Swimming with high CYA and Chlorine

Ok, That makes sense. I'm still learning! So either way, it looks expensive to keep adding chlorine every day for the next two months? Do you have any advice on how to shut down my pool now so I can drain it in the fall?

Swimming with high CYA and Chlorine

Hi mknauss, I accidentally posted my last response in this thread. It was meant to be a new question but using my phone messed things up.

Swimming with high CYA and Chlorine

Hi My CYA level is currently 100. PoolMath says I need to keep my chlorine level at 11ppm. 48hrs ago I put 3 bags of TurboShock in since my chlorine was ZERO. It shot up to 10+ that day but now it is at ZERO again. I’m trying to figure out a cost-effective way to keep my pool open for 2 more...

Swimming with high CYA and Chlorine

Hi Everyone, This is my first time posting here. I have already read through Pool School to learn the basics. I have been on a quest these past few weeks to get my water balanced correctly. I had been using the Clorox XtraBlue shock and tabs up until recently when I realized that they were...

HAYWARD EcoStar SP3400 / Possible to bypass the drive?

Thanks JamesW! I just got off the phone with a local Phoenix pool pump repair shop and they told me the same thing. He mentioned that he sees this scenario quite often. I have a 20K gallon pool with a Triton II - TR60 filter so he mentioned that I can go with a 1HP, new impeller and a few other...

HAYWARD EcoStar SP3400 / Possible to bypass the drive?

UPDATE: I thought I could borrow a multimeter but nobody I know has one so I can't test the motor as JamesW suggested. I heard back from Hayward. My pump is a 2014 so its out of warranty so I would have to buy a new drive. I can't see myself doing that given all the issues that I have read with...

HAYWARD EcoStar SP3400 / Possible to bypass the drive?

Hi ajw22, We bought the house 2 years ago so I don't know the exact age of the pump. I spoke with a Hayward rep but I didn't have the pump info with me at the time so I emailed him with my serial number and explaining the issue and just waiting to hear back. I went over the items that I already...

HAYWARD EcoStar SP3400 / Possible to bypass the drive?

My pump is showing the DRIVE ERROR - PUMP HAS STALLED error. It spins freely. I have tried several times turning the breaker off/on after 30 mins+. The wire connections seem to be fine. I can't afford a new drive at this time. Is there a way to bypass the drive and hard wire the pump? I'm fine...
