Is there an electric pool scrubber out there??

I have a pretty bad black algae problem, and I just don't have the strength/ability to budge most of the spots by hand with my wire brushes. Kind of a double whammy now that chlorine is so very expensive/harder to find, especially as I am on a pretty tight budget. I just cannot afford to do a...

Thoughts logical on high electric bill??

Thanks everyone for your help! As for the pump, it was the most I could afford to do, variable speed were out of my price range, and was told that to go over 1.5 hp would put too much pressure on all the existing plumbing. IDK if that's true, it's quite old so it made sense. Re my usage, I am...

Thoughts logical on high electric bill??

In early December I had my pool pump replaced. The new one is supposed to be similar to the last, it is a Jandy Flopro 1.5 single speed pump. I had a huge electric bill recently and the next one is gonna be as bad, I have been going nuts over all my other usage, which is quite frugal, when I...

Help with chlorine levels and start of algae?

So do you think I should raise my CYA to 50 for the summer months? And then bring my FC target up to what, 7 or 8? I just did not think I should be needing so much chlorine every day, for some reason it is getting harder to find here I am going to multiple H Depots, I just don;t think I can find...

Help with chlorine levels and start of algae?

I have been using the Taylor 2006c kit since last fall and felt like I was doing a good job but now I am not so sure, or maybe I just don't understand the pool math app? I am adding an average of 9 cups of chlorine a day but I see I am starting to get some green algea spots in the skimmer/drain...

    PH rise and acid additions....

Ah ok thank you! So you will still be able to gauge your PH but it's easier to tell where you are. I am gonna try this as I have trouble with this as well, thanks for the tip! I think I will order one of those test meters too, it seems like a good product to also have.

    PH rise and acid additions....

Just reading this as I am having a highish Ph as well...may I ask why you are only using 4 drops of the test solution not 5?

    Help with quickly rising ph??

No nothing like that and my pool gets very little use, none at all yet this year.

    Help with quickly rising ph??

I am lowering the Ph when it is "8" although to me the water sample looks redder that the 8 markings on the testing container. On all my chemical additions, I am aiming for the number my pool math app tells me to achieve...is this wrong? IDK what algorithm the app is using to tell me what to do...

    Help with quickly rising ph??

I joined TFP and got Pool Math app last August after struggling for years to do my pool with way too much help and expense from Leslie's Pool store! I got the Taylor 2600 kit, stopped using the tabs and started with just liquid chlorine and liquid acid. I have been really happy with how the pool...

How does one decide target CYA for your location/season?

I am trying to educate myself more about my pool now that I am doing my own testing. I am using the Pool Math app to log everything prior to doing my first slam probably this weekend. Is the app choosing my target CYA for me, it seems to be? Or should I know how to set the target myself. I am...

First plan, really need advice before proceeding:(

Thanks for all the help! Just bought 4 cases of 10% at H Depot and added recommended dose. Will get that right then do PH. I am thinking I will not have enough of that powdered chlorine test reagent to go thru a slam tho, do you all buy extra via amazon to be sure?

First plan, really need advice before proceeding:(

Ok, thanks for replies, more info: CH is 380, I know that's a bit high but with this heat I am adding water to pool a couple times a week, it is in full sun, so not gonna worry about that now. TA is 90. I have logged all this in the app. I used 15 oz of the copper black algea killer about a...
