Please tell me this will be a cheap fix.

It looks to me like the bond beam around the top edge of the pool is moving independently of the pool shell, in that spot. If so, patching it will not work as it will just keep moving. There might be a flexible filler that allows you to re-tile and still let the pieces move without it being...

Pool/Pump problems, very detailed, need help please.

Maybe get some small plastic bottles and fill them with bleach, get your wife to tip a bottle in every second day, or say Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, so if you are going away for 10 days get 5 bottles etc etc. You'll have to work out how much bleach you will need for one dose and put that in...

Brand New SWC Infinity Pool - new pool ow er

The heater should have a valve in the gas line to turn the gas off to it, can you manually turn that off once the spa is heated? That would eliminate the chance that the heater is running on low after it shuts off (faulty heater).

Putting the cart before the horse (or house even) - hi everyone

I've just installed a 22 ft Bestway above ground so can give you some advice. I did the full install myself, the ground took me about 2 hours to level with my own excavator (the site was fairly level to start with), and the pool took about 3 hours to install. Once the ground was leveled I laid...

adding acid for first time tomorrow, a few questions...

I pour it in at the return then jump straight in at the other end and do some laps, mixes it all up very well, so 30 mins like the others said would be fine.

    Murky pool after rain

Ah bummer, it was heading straight down here to us but luckily changed direction and headed out to sea. Yeah let it settle then vacuum and keep at it!

Pool/Pump problems, very detailed, need help please.

For the volume treat it as a series of circles (vertical cylinders) and use Pi r squared h (3.142 x the radius of the circle squared x the depth of that circle) might be the easiest way, or rough out a rectangle and use that. Otherwise you'll have to use calculus to get the exact volume, unless...

    Murky pool after rain

How'd you go with Cyclone Marcia last week, is that what the mud is from?

    Murky pool after rain

I've had similar, best way imo is don't touch the pool for a week, let it all settle out, then hand vac it. Cut your filter back to normal run times as well and it might take a few vacs to get it all, but eventually it will settle out. Not sure what your weather is like atm but it has been cold...

Yori, stop going to the pool shop and listen to these guys, they know what they are talking about! Thanks to this website I have never stepped foot in a pool shop, and don't plan on ever having to!

Wood platform for salt water pool

If it's solid wood it will last under brackish water for maybe hundreds of years, especially if it is something like oak. If you're ever in Sweden check out the Vasa, an amazing ship that was underwater for hundreds of years and has now been salvaged and put on display. If you want to build a...

    New Pool Depth

I would add another foot all over, you don't want it too shallow. Minimum 6ft at the diving end as Brushpup said.

I need a monthly maintenance estimate for a pool of this size

SWG for sure. I have found that once I had got my chemistry right, a cover and a SWG meant that I didn't even have to look at my pool for a week at a time. The pool was covered so dirt and bathers were kept out, so the chlorine demand was similar daily, which the SWG took care of. A very easy...
