Pump won't prime, air, after cleaning filter basket

I am so sorry for doubting you!! We tightened some loose screws on the valve that we thought might be the problem, but nope. Yesterday we got a new o-ring and some lube and ran the system. This morning, it turned on and primed just fine all by itself. I guess that was the problem!! (Of...

Pump won't prime, air, after cleaning filter basket

We won't be able to get to that until maybe this weekend. But that still doesn't make sense. Yesterday morning we filled the filter basket with water and turned it on and let it run and it was fine. In the evening, I peeked in on it and it was still primed, in that the tube was still...

Pump won't prime, air, after cleaning filter basket

Everything has been running just fine. Frankly, we've been afraid to touch the system for fear of messing something up. And we did. We opened the pump filter basket lid to clean it out, and it was basically empty though it hadn't been emptied since before September. Wasn't necessary. But...

Need Help Figuring Out Pump and Filter Equipment

Thanks Jim. Your explanation along with some photos and plumbing diagrams from sellers, I'm better understanding what the separation tank does. We will have to open it up and see what's inside, but I suspect you may be right. And I see those bags are not cheap to replace! It would be money...

Need Help Figuring Out Pump and Filter Equipment

Here are the pipes coming out of the ground. One more pipe goes into the ground... see first picture... it goes off the left hand side of the photo and the valve to it is shut off. That pipe comes from a connection that comes from the DE separation tank.

Need Help Figuring Out Pump and Filter Equipment

I've been labeling my above photo which helps clarify a lot, but for some reason, that has made my file way too big for TFP to accept it. No matter what I do, it will not shrink enough, I think b/c of the labels. Will have to find another way. I think our main question is, does the incoming...

Need Help Figuring Out Pump and Filter Equipment

Hi Everyone. So, the pool guy is gone and we're on our own. We're learning the chemicals just fine, but we are very confused about what we have in terms of equipment. We have a DE filter on the right (Leslies/Haywood Crystal Clear II DE-LE-42054), and we know the little pump in the...

    Muratic Acid

Interesting note... we went into Leslie's yesterday for the first time. I asked them what they carried, he said 31.45%. I said, oh, the full strength, great! He said that you cannot buy full strength in box stores anywhere because it's not allowed. You can buy it in the pool store because...

    Muratic Acid

I am not finding any full strength stuff easily so far. I have been to Home Depot and Orchard Supply Hardware so far. Home Depot didn't have anything labeled Muriatic acid in the pool section, just a bunch of the HDX branded products. In the paint section they had a bottle that said "90% less...

    Pool Service Guy - I don't think we're getting our money's worth

Thanks. And I think I'm getting it. I take my measurements, plug them into the Pool Math page, set my goals and then see if we're balanced. If not, it tells us what we need to do to get balanced. I will continue to read as much info as possible. I need to go shopping for some supplies to...

    Pool Service Guy - I don't think we're getting our money's worth

We finally took some time today to read, and re-read the clear as mud directions on how to test the water. From observation of the pool guy, I thought it was super easy, just drop some chemicals in a water sample and bam, you're done. It's a bit more complicated than that, but I think after...
