New integrated spa. Is this how it's supposed to work?

We just completed a new pool/spa IG gunite combo with a Jandy JXi 400k heater. I fired the heater up on the hot tub for the first time tonight. Water temp was 79, I set target to 83. The hot tub warmed up quickly and felt great. But when the water hit the goal temp, the heater immediately turned...

    New Pool/Spa in Los Angeles

Plaster and fill day!! We wrung our hands over the plaster choice way more than any other decision. I wanted white traditional plaster but was afraid of it looking dated if we resell any time soon. Wife wanted The NPT stonescapes pebble Tec knockoff. It was only $2600 more but in the end we...

    New Pool/Spa in Los Angeles

It's NPT Allure "Caribbean" 1x1 glass tiles. The color is much nicer than the picture on their website. Allure | National Pool Tile Group We're happy with how it looks so far. We were worried it may seem a little "80's" but we didn't like anything else better.

    Owner/builder SoCal

I was having a pity party tonight in the middle of digging up a trench I'd already dug twice so I can satisfy a picky inspector. I was sitting in my under construction spa (that someone else is building) and came across this thread. It was a great inspiration to get off my butt and get back to...

    Multiple heater plan help

With the integrated spa I have to have a gas heater to bring the spa up to temperature quickly. According to the Hayward calculator (which I know is trying to sell me a heat pump) keeping my pool at 90 year round with my local utility costs (and keeping it covered) would be $2,202 with the heat...

    Multiple heater plan help

Hello TFP, this is my first post. We're building a 14x30 pool with integrated/spillover spa in Burbank (Los Angeles) CA. One of our top priorities is keeping the pool comfortable year round (85-90 F?) as efficiently as possible. Ideally we would keep the pool at or close to temp all the time and...
