New above ground pool and a change in maintenance procedures

Gotchya. So liquid chlorine doesn’t have stabilizer? So in short, get CYA up to 40 and coast for the summer using liquid chlorine with the exception of extenuating circumstances such as high temps, vacations away or heavy use?

New above ground pool and a change in maintenance procedures

10 years ago I had an above ground pool installed that was secondhand. The previous owner used salt to chlorinate the pool so I followed suit and did as well. Back then I had read up on sanitation methods here and I like the idea of salt and the lack of time involved, as well as the cost...

    Hayward turbo cell wiring question

This is a long shot but here goes. I had my salt water chlorinator cell stored in my shed. Mice got in and decided to chew through the wires. Its 10 wires but only 6 are used; two white, two black a red and a blue. What started out as a straightforward wiring repair/splice has got me...

    Leaving doughboy full for winter?

Yes, everything outside the pool gets drained and stored. Thanks richierich. I’ll give it a go then.

    Leaving doughboy full for winter?

Last year I drained my doughboy AG to below the skimmer and return. It’s an older second hand pool that has an aqua door for it. Is there any harm in leaving the water level at full and using the aqua door and plugging the return in the northeast where it will freeze?

    Anyone weld?

I thought of a few other small things. Good welds start with good fab and nice fitup. Gaps from poor cuts, makes a simple weld more complicated so take your time and prep your joint correctly. There are a few common variables relative to any welding process. Some of them are set on the...

    Testing salt levels

Good resource there. I had the low salt and check cell flashing earlier which would mean less than 2800ppm salt. I reset it and now just the low salt is lit . I'll verify with the drop test. Worth the 30 bucks to know for sure but at least I'm making chlorine. Thanks

    Testing salt levels

Thanks. How accurate typically are the Hayward swgs? I picked up a second hand aquatrol and it's saying low salt 2800. I could dump in more salt salt but figured since this is a used swg, I should probably verify its accuracy with something known to be accurate. Should I trust its readings...

    Anyone weld?

18 years welder and instructor. +1 on getting some c25 gas for that machine. Flux cored wire welds but on a small machine like that, it's tough to make anything that looks decent. Adding gas at least gives your half a chance. It's easier to see the pool, less spatter, less smoke and cleaner...

    Testing salt levels

Sorry if this is posted somewhere obvious but I can’t find it. Is there a preferred method for accurately testing salt levels?
