    Pool Math........The App

Thought I would check back as pool season is around again in my neck of the woods and a year has gone by. I see lots of development on the app since we talked about this last year, and congrats on that! But I don't see any mentions of totally offline. Wondering if this was still on the...

    Pool Math........The App

Appreciate the detail. Just spitballing here, but I'm guessing you are making all the calculations locally, writing to the db, and then calling the realm sync engine? Or possibly the realm sync engine is always watching the db? If it's the former, then couldn't you just add an option not to...

    Pool Math........The App

I knew my post was going to start a storm, and I would be in the minority. I however am not changing my opinion, but I think what you've posted clarifies how you want the users to use the app, and not give them a choice on data storage. And in today's changing world, that just continues to...

    Pool Math........The App

He specifically states: We require authentication in the app so that your pool data can be sync'd and saved to the cloud. We decided the workflow was too messy and would create a poor user experience if we wanted to allow local device storage only until a user logged in after that. It...

    Pool Math........The App

First, I want to say thanks for the development, never an easy task. I would however like to discuss the storage. I may possibly be in the minority when I say this, but why only cloud based? (It appears to be so you can access anywhere/anytime). If so, ok, but really how many folks are truly...

    Finding a good solar cover

Re: Do not order from www.solarcovers.com solarcovers.com is just another poolsupplies.com AKA Leisure Living website. They do warranty their covers. The cheapest ones have atleast a 1 year full warranty. I bought one for my pool at the beginning of the season, the best clear model they...

Good article on spotting people who might be drowning

I just found this and read it, and it just sends a shiver to the soul. I agree this needs to be prominently displayed, not to scare but really to educate. We're so accustomed to what we see on TV, where in real life it is very different. Jason, please post in pool school, on the home page...

What are the absolute worst substances that could be put in?

now that you mentioned gasoline, i would agree that probably would be the worst. if memory serves there is a chemical added to gas, MTB(??) maybe that gets in to the groundwater and permanently pollutes it, no way to remove it. guess you'd be draining and refilling plus changing filter medium...

What are the absolute worst substances that could be put in?

hehehe mythbusters did that in a smaller amount. big boom. but they also did it with something else that provoked more of a reaction then sodium, but i can't remember what it was.

    What's your current pool temp?

Aerate. I've seen a couple of pics of our members who made pvc "fountains" that fit in to a return to spray the water across the pool to help bring it down. Of course watch your pH drift after doing that. I believe running the pump during certain times makes a difference too: night to cool it...

Is there any downside to algaecide?

I think the only downside is if it has copper in it then you have to worry about green hair and what not. Plus I believe it will actually up your chlorine demand as the chlorine will eat it too. Polyquat 60 is what is recommended around these parts. I can't comment on the clarifier.

What are the absolute worst substances that could be put in?

Well then you would be adding gasoline & oil & break fluid, possibly antifreeze depending on the bike and maybe battery acid. I ain't swimming in your pool then

    Rules

I haven't seen one of those in years, but I'm glad to see someone else appreciates that sign. You can always tell the younger ones that you put a chemical in to detect if someone pees in the pool and the water will turn red around them, but that only works till they wise up
