Low Calcium Reason for Cloudy Water?

Breaks my heart to see my poor plaster be sent out the backwash. This pool chemistry thing can be overwhelming for a first time pool owner. I wish i would have found this community when we first bought the house. On the positive note, you can see the water is Crystal. Is the loss of plaster...

    Ready to SLAM-I think

What type of pool you have? I have a recent thread where my calcium was just below yours and the damage it was doing to the plaster was also leaving it cloudy. Not sure what step that is, but if you have a plaster pool i would assume its high on the priority list. ~11,500 gallon in-ground 27 x...

Low Calcium Reason for Cloudy Water?

Any thoughts on testing for calcium why my colors are so faint, even after i added the calcium? ~11,500 gallon in-ground 27 x 13 ft 3 ft in shallow, 5.5 ft in deep Plaster bottom/fiberglass sides(?)

Low Calcium Reason for Cloudy Water?

Thanks. It didn't scar the plaster too bad, but hate the way it looks now. Guess I'll never make that mistake again. ~11,500 gallon in-ground 27 x 13 ft 3 ft in shallow, 5.5 ft in deep Plaster bottom/fiberglass sides(?)

Low Calcium Reason for Cloudy Water?

Hey everyone, very happy to wake up this morning to Crystal clear water for the first time in a month of finding this community and learning about chemicals and chemistry. To recap, I have been steady slamming for about a month on a swamp. Finally got to where I passed the overnight chlorine...

    Fighting the Cloudy Water

I tried to maneuver it around but no budging. Thanks for your help. ~11,500 gallon in-ground 27 x 13 ft 3 ft in shallow, 5.5 ft in deep Plaster bottom/fiberglass sides(?)

    Fighting the Cloudy Water

So, I had planned to go out and do as the video instructed. Turns out the plumbing connecting the multi port wasn't built with unions. Watched a few videos, and I'm guessing the only solution is cutting the pipes and installing unions? As a first time house owner with limited DIY experience, is...

    Fighting the Cloudy Water

I do have one of each. What is the thought process of removing them? Trapped algae contaminating the pool? ~11,500 gallon in-ground 27 x 13 ft 3 ft in shallow, 5.5 ft in deep Plaster bottom/fiberglass sides(?)

    Fighting the Cloudy Water

Been slamming for a month. I had a swamp in the back yard of the house we bought. Last Test: FC-18 CC-0 pH-7.0 TA-120 CYA-40 CH-60 Last night i literally didn't lose a single ppm in FC, tested FC before going to bed and it was 18 then too. I know the calcium is way low, and i have some de-ice...

Adding chemicals is not increasing my pool values

Definitely not opposed, just didn't see any when I went to the store. I'll check online again. ~11,500 gallon in-ground 27 x 13 ft 3 ft in shallow, 5.5 ft in deep Plaster bottom/fiberglass sides(?)

Adding chemicals is not increasing my pool values

Pool company around me sells liquid chlorine but you have to bring your own container. They sell it for $5.00 a gallon, but the cheapest i found was $4.50 at Lowe's and home Depot for 11%. Can't find that bleach anywhere for less than $3 bucks. May be worth the convenience to get 5 gallon...

Adding chemicals is not increasing my pool values

Based on my crude math, 1/4 a gallon, for 30 days, will need approximately 8 gallons? At the price I'm buying at that is $40 per month, let's say $50 if you add an extra gallon for shock. Is that about that you pay for monthly upkeep? ~11,500 gallon in-ground 27 x 13 ft 3 ft in shallow, 5.5...

Adding chemicals is not increasing my pool values

Also, why does your link take me to this page? I have noticed that many links on here are going to unrelated pages. Is that an issue with Tapatalk or bad links? Sorry if I'm hijacking this thread. ~11,500 gallon in-ground 27 x 13 ft 3 ft in shallow, 5.5 ft in deep Plaster bottom/fiberglass...

Adding chemicals is not increasing my pool values

I just started using liquid chlorine. I know it's all based on pool size, sunlight, etc, but what is an average amount of liquid chlorine per day for a pool? And can you get by with adding it once per day or does it need to be twice? ~11,500 gallon in-ground 27 x 13 ft 3 ft in shallow, 5.5 ft...
