    Burning eyes tonight - stumped

Just an update, my pool is back to it's beautiful sparkly non-burning self and we have been enjoying it with the hot weather. Another tribute to the lessons learned on this site and how keeping on top of your pool chemistry can help keep things from getting out of control. Thanks everyone!

    Burning eyes tonight - stumped

Failed the OCLT test last night, brought the pool back up to shock level this morning and will keep it there. Going to do the test again tonight, hopefully we nipped whatever it was in the bud...

    Burning eyes tonight - stumped

Thanks Linen! I kinda started thinking the same thing so I added more chlorine than I originally planned when I posted. I will test again in a bit and get it up to 13 and do a OCLT test tonight. How scary is it that i am "excited" to have to do my first OCLT test.... LOL

    Burning eyes tonight - stumped

Been trucking along with the BBB method and had great results so far. Tonight we all got in the pool and the water was really harsh on the eyes. :? Here are my numbers: pH = ~7.5 FC = 3.5 (added enough bleach to bring up to 5) CC = 0 or 0.5 the water seemed a little "off" but not really pink...

    RIP SWG!! Few Questions...

I don't think evaporation will affect your CYA level, the CYA is still in the water. The only way to lower it is to remove water (containing the CYA) from your pool and fill with fresh. :(

Back from Vacation low pH from pucks

Thanks Bama! I don't have any way of aerating my pool... I just have an Intex and I was not able to angle the return up high enough... I added the Borax and my pH is already up a bit... I will keep an eye on it this week to make sure I did not overdo it.

Borax has a new look (White Box)

WIsh I would have seen this before heading to Wally world today to pick some up. I think I walked up and down the aisle at least 5 times before spotting it! LOL

Back from Vacation low pH from pucks

Just got back from our week-long camping trip and came back to a low pH (not surprised as I used pucks to keep the chlorine up while I was gone). here are my numbers: FC 3.0 CC 0 pH 7.0 TA 100 CH 110 CYA 25 (working on bringing this up, I am waiting since I am sure the pucks will impact this...

We have a small camper (19 ft)... hoping to upgrade to a little bigger in the next few years. I will have to take a pic on our trip.

Out of town for a week, how to keep FC up

Thanks for the tip about the copper. I will swing by the dreaded pool store on my lunch tomorrow and pick up some of their pucks. We are going camping in Northern Michigan, near Traverse City. Hopefully we get some more of teh beautiful weather we have been having in Michigan lately!

Out of town for a week, how to keep FC up

That's what I was hoping to hear! :) When we get our "real" pool next summer, I am definitely investing in a liquidator! :)

Out of town for a week, how to keep FC up

We are going to be out of town for a week and normally I have my father-in-law come dump some bleach every night, but he is going to be gone too. Wondering on anyone's suggestions for what I should do... I have always gone with BBB with our pool so I know nothing about the pucks I see at Wally...

    pH too high?

JohnT - I will pick up some acid tonight at Menards and give that a try. duraleigh - point taken! I have been struggling to keep the Chlorine up since I am still trying ot get my CYA levels up (it seems to be taking forever!). The main reason for my low level this time though, was a...

    pH too high?

Okay, we have had our pool up for a few weeks and everything has been going great. I have noticed that my pH level keeps creeping up and am thinking I most likely need to do something about (add Muriatic Acid), but figure I would see what the experts think first... Here are the results of my...
