    Help in locating a leak

Hm. I haven't been using the pool the last few weeks, it's set to be closed end of the month, so I shut the skimmer suction off and haven't bothered keeping the water level up. Result is that after a week or so, the water level stops dropping at the skimmer mouth, and when I look inside the...

    Help in locating a leak

I have a bit of a leak and wanted to see if anyone has any bright ideas I haven't considered. Water level continues to drop to about an inch up the mouth of the skimmer. It stabilizes there - I've closed the suction to the skimmer and stopped topping off the water, only drawing from the main...

Pump died, what’s my fastest route to get water filtering again?

Finished this up yesterday afternoon. Packaging is pretty tight even just to get unions in there was a puzzle. Couple minor leaks I might try leak b gone or similar, or just rebuild a few sections in the winter. Suction port on the filter valve is the worst drip, even though I’m pretty sure I...

Pump died, what’s my fastest route to get water filtering again?

Pump is expected to arrive tomorrow, fingers crossed. Started to disassemble, the suction side union came off easily enough. I plan on installing a female threaded adapter, gluing a length of pipe to that and then coupling it onto the cpvc tailpiece of the pump union. I’m wondering if I should...

Pump died, what’s my fastest route to get water filtering again?

Yea I’m leaning towards the complete replacement. For such a thing as a pool, I’m not trying to be penny wise and pound foolish. By the same token I think I can feel comfortable enough springing for the known quantity of the Hayward and the luxury of having buttons for it where I want them. It’s...

Pump died, what’s my fastest route to get water filtering again?

Current setup is 240v so that’s ok. You’re right, I should probably just KISS. If I use my existing timer, when it powers up the motor do you know whether I could still make some use of the custom programming, ie change the default speed/duration? I will have to read up on that. EDIT - sounds...

Pump died, what’s my fastest route to get water filtering again?

I’m really just stuck between: Hayward MaxFlo VS 1.65hp - known quantity of the brand - control panel can be mounted on the wall, which is very enticing given the position of my pump inside a shed - $1k after rebate Harris 72522 - unknown brand - similar features otherwise - $550 Century...

Pump died, what’s my fastest route to get water filtering again?

I’m interpreting the condition of the pump shaft as “need a new motor” at minimum. Maybe the threads could be cleaned up? But the shaft squeaks, it’s bearing is shot for sure. I should probably take this “opportunity” to upgrade… to the century / Vgreen VS retrofit: Hayward MaxFlo VS Motor...

Pump died, what’s my fastest route to get water filtering again?

I had the same thought, but checked it and I can only close/throttle one side (skimmer) or the other (drain) - I can’t move the valve handle to where “closed” is on the pump side.

Pump died, what’s my fastest route to get water filtering again?

Yes. I'm going to disassemble and look at that option depending on what I find. I closed it in preparation for servicing / removing the pump, don't worry it was open prior to this.
