    Check out my swamp! (Pic)

Well, Im still pretty new at all things BBB but I do feel like I have a decent understanding. I just opened my pool up today and found that I have a mess. Im adding water as quick as possible so that I can start skimming but for the moment, I have my vacuum hose going straight to my intake...

    DIY solar cover reel?

I never did sink the 4x4's in the ground... because the more I pondered over it, the more my idea was flawed. There is no way possible for the rod to turn inside of the 4x4.. Im sure it would bind up. There has to be some sort of bearing system involved. I havent ruled the pillow block...

    Looking for a door lock

Thanks for the replies folks! :-D All these are great ideas really... and I will probably be using a little of everybody's thoughts... 1. I think I will add a battery operated alarm to the interior door so that I know when someone goes in or out. 2. Also, will probably change the deadbolt...

    Looking for a door lock

Hey folks. This is my official first full season with my pool and as of today, I now have a deck that allows easy access to my pool from my back door of my home. Basically, I can go out my back door, onto my deck and walk straight down the steps into the pool. Wonderful really... but here is...

    Went on vacation

Hey folks. Ive been reading this forum almost daily for a long time now... but I try not to post very much. Anyhoo, I just got back from a 7 day absence from my pool and everything was 100% fine! :-D Due to all of the information here at TFP. Before I left, I dumped in exactly enough...

New Pool owner: Vacuuming the pool. Is it hooked up right?

would a hole in the hose cause this problem? I had something similar happen last year and it turned out that it was a small defect in my vacuum hose. It had a hole in it near the end. Now if I put the "hole end" of the hose near the bottom of the pool instead of the skimmer, it does not...

Ok, I give up. What's happening in my pool?

Hello Dan, I wish I could give you some wonderful advice, but I am just a newb. (only had my pool for a short while) It seems that you have algae but your numbers that you posted do not indicate that at all. While you are waiting for an expert to post, I figured that I would say hello, since...

    cloudy eyes

Hello folks. I have often wondered about what in the water makes your eyes "cloudy". Do you think its the chlorine or is it just being under water? My eyes don't sting or hurt and my Chlorine and PH levels are fine. Ive always noticed that after I swim a lot underwater with my eyes open...

    Pool build question...

I had some issues last year when my pool was first installed. 18x33 above ground. Long story but at one time, I had to have a new liner installed and it was still fairly wet around the work area.... when they installed the liner, it had sand, pebbles, all sorts of stuff between the liner and...

    DIY solar cover reel?

There is no doubt what I would do if I could get a "do over". I would have purchased an 8 mil clear solar cover instead of the 12. I couldnt imagine trying to use a 16 mil on any sort of reel. Now that I have the 12, I wish I purchased the 8. Anyway, live and learn I suppose.

    DIY solar cover reel?

Erm, Im just guessing that deflection is the same basic thing as 'bowing'. Loaded, it sags a good bit but holds together fine. Without the cover on the rod, its fairly straight with minor amount of bowing in it. There again, Im not really sure if that answers your question. :oops...

Ty for the info! I wasnt 100% sure of my understanding about the cya/chlorine chart. The stickies are a wonderful tool here. Thanks mods/admins for maintaining a great website.
