Not sure if the pump suddenly died or there is an electrical problem

If it is like my Hayward pump motor there should be two bolts on the back cover of the motor holding it in place. You may want to cut the power to the pump motor before you attempt to take the cover off. The cover can be difficult to get off and put back on as it is a tight fit. Once the cover...

    Hayward EC-65 Backwashing Issues

I read through the DE filter cleaning tutorial "stickied"at the top of this forum section and probably learned what I have been doing wrong, even though my filter is the bump style not covered by the tutorial. Thank you for a great tutorial. My issues had been that after backfushing I could...

Hayward Super Pump/EC-65 Won't Make Pressure

Success, thanks guys! Took the back end of the pump off, motor and impeller looked and functioned fine. Tried running a snake in from the pump basket but could only get it in about 8" before hitting something. :D Thankfully I didn't knock it loose, to fall back down the line, when using the...

Hayward Super Pump/EC-65 Won't Make Pressure

I can see a steady flow of water coming into the pump basket, can't really tell if there is any air, but the basket just will never fill and get enough water in there to pressurize the system. I'll check the impeller and definitely try some of these ideas for getting the screwdriver out. Then...

Hayward Super Pump/EC-65 Won't Make Pressure

Installed my pool filter for spring startup, as I have for the last 30 years, but this year I can't get any pressure out of it. The pump/filter that I am using now is only a few years old. System was working fine when put away last fall, cleaned the fingers and grid. The pump/filter operates and...

    New Pool Owner/Old Pool

I work for a concrete producer and sometimes do a little trouble shooting for them. Looking at the latest pictures I would say that, that is what we call a fine grout mix, not concrete. The only real difference is that fine grout does not have a coarse aggregate (stone) in the mix, only sand. If...

    New Pool Owner/Old Pool

Are those actually separate red bricks? With the surface texture being the same as the adjacent concrete, it almost looks like the whole thing is stamped concrete and then the different areas were just stained different colors. I think that is the first thing you need to determine. If they are...

DE leaking into pool when pump starts

Check the plastic disk that the fingers mount to. I had the same problem with a disk that was cracked.

    What FC Loss To Expect

chem geek, I'm thinking more likely pollen than debris; I don't get that much large debris this time of year. The other possibility is red slime; I've been fighting that the last two years in a row. Pulled my ladder earlier this season and it was all over the bottom of it. Used some straight...

    What FC Loss To Expect

Amen to the every pool is different! South Central PA, one swimmer normally, 7 hrs full sun, 84 degree pool temp, lots of trees, oak, maple and pine, cya at 50, <0.5cc, overnight loss 0.5 to 1.5ppm. Can't seem to get mine below the 5-6ppm per day range even after shocking the heck out of it...

what does High/Low Ph do to your skin?

Just a little anecdotal evidence, my pool maintained within the proper PH range has no effect on my eyes. However, my well water is off the scale yellow on the PH test, very acidic and stings when I get it in my eyes.

    Post a picture of yourself

It's a little dated but the best I could find with the pool and one of my grandsons. Oh...and by the way, we are both available
