    Intermittent FL2 error

In case anyone else runs into this, replacing the flow switch seems to have solved the problem.

    Intermittent FL2 error

Today's update: If I run pump 1, the flow switch closes and the error code turns off (because the flow switch is supposed to be closed with the pump running). When I turn off the pump, the circulation pump turns on with no error code. After a minute or two, the circulation pump turns off and...

    Intermittent FL2 error

I have a J-335 hot tub that is about 10 years old. It was drained over the summer after we had pump 1 replaced (bad bearings) and pump 2's seal replaced (leak). I started it back up this past weekend, and since then have been getting an intermittent FL2 error code. I tried removing filter 1...

Need a super-low TA on startup to balance pH (and awful test strips too!)

Thanks, pooldv, for answering so many questions. I'll figure this all out soon, I hope!

Need a super-low TA on startup to balance pH (and awful test strips too!)

OK- How low is too low for pH? I checked the tub last night after the jets had been off for about 12 hrs, and it was 7.2-7.3. Running the jets for a bit brought it back up to 7.6. If I understand the spa chemistry correctly, I may be able to raise the TA slightly so that the pH maxes out at...

Need a super-low TA on startup to balance pH (and awful test strips too!)

One more question: The dichlor I added last night had more of an effect on the water than PoolMath predicted- 5tsp should have raised a 358 gallon tub to about 10ppm from zero (which was about where it was), when in fact it raised it to 13ppm. Is the 358 gallon listing in the tub manual the...

Need a super-low TA on startup to balance pH (and awful test strips too!)

A few clarifications: All of the pH measurements were taken before I supercholorinated. I retested the water this morning, and after 10 hours, the FC had dropped from 13 to 9.5 (27%). Does this suggest that I have a contamination problem from waiting a week to superchlorinate, or is it OK?

That's what I thought, but if my TA is > 30, my pH is >8. If my pH is stable, do I need to worry about the low TA?

I may have already screwed up this fill- if so, let me know. This is only the second time I've filled the tub in a house we bought last fall. I had tried Nature2+MPS, but wanted to switch to something that would work at lower temps since we don't use the spa very often. Last weekend, I added...

Spa that only gets occasional use

We have a spa that only gets occasional use (once every few weeks right now), and I'm wondering how best to keep it balanced. Right now I'm using the Nature2+MPS system. The instructions talk about shocking before each use and once a week, but if the tub doesn't get used during the week, is it...

    Problem with spa start up

So I'm following the start-up instructions that spadepot.com sent with the kit, which is why I'm surprised that I'm having trouble with the levels. I tried again tonight by adding 1 tsp (no change) and a second tsp (finally, a small increase to about 1-2 ppm, but not the increase I should be...

    Problem with spa start up

I recently bought a house with a J-335 hot tub, and am having trouble with the chlorine levels on start up. Because the previous owners used the SoftSoak system, I superclorinated the spa yesterday to decontaminate it (to about 100ppm), let it run for 30 min, and then added Sea Klear spa flush...

Nature2 in a tub with two filters

Thanks for the feedback Chem Geek. I was planning to do an initial shock with Dichlor after following the superchlorination decontamination procedure posted to this site, which seems to match what SpaDepot suggests at: http://www.spadepot.com/spacyclopedia/spa-contamination.htm (I'm...

Nature2 in a tub with two filters

I just purchased a house with a J-335 spa, so am new to all of this. I'm leaning towards going with the Nature2 + MPS system because I'm sensitive to chlorine. The hot tub has two filters. Do I want to put a Nature2 core into each of them, or just one? Also- stupid question. The original...
