If you already have sand in your barrel a good shop vac will make it very easy to remove it so you can tighten up the lats

If sand ends up in the pool using recirculate (which is suppose to bypass the sand?) what does this tell me?

Update: After tightening lats and seeing less sand I decided to try a new brand of sand - (I have two of these pumps, so two sand barrels) AFTER I filled the back up barrel with the new brand of sand I noticed the 6way valve on the in use pump was damaged on the bottom that sits in the sand...

Yeah - if it's a small amount and not for any serious reason and sand doesn't cost a ridiculous amount I won't have any issues either. I'll just sweep it up. I'm still getting a little myself, but no where near what I was getting with those loose laterals - and since I have two of the same sand...

I will - It's been 2 hours of filtering and I can't see any sand, but even if I still have some sand issues - if it turns out that way - laterals most def need to be inserted all the way in, tight and flush. Mine were not and I'm sure sand was getting in because of it - I mean 50%.. untightened...

So.. I did what the amazon reviewer did - I checked my laterals - half of them were 50% loose... some were 25% but all were lose .. I had to hand tighten them all after sucking out the sand with shop vac, then replaced the barrel with the same sand, but tightened up laterals - now running pump...

Ugh - that's 20 silica just like the intex pump calls for. I guess I need to find the perfect sand somehow.. - I also read through the manual and it says NOTHING about adding water first to cushion the laterals from the weight of the sand. Now, the first pump I just pored it straight in, used...

Here are some pictures of fresh sand from the two different brands I bought. Do you think the sand is to small? I’m going to get some hth soon..

Thanks - I'm going to read that now. The reviews on the sand I used are high (out of close to 300 reviews) but some did say sand in their pool - but who knows, could be pump issues for them. What sand is most recommended? I used the 20# silica intex recommends for the first pump I got from them...
