We have had our pool at SLAM levels for four days and it’s not clearing up. Someone said we might have phosphates in there and that could be the reason... thoughts on next steps? On phosphates?

Regarding the filter, we cleaned it and it was a complete mess - only two weeks the pool had been open. So now it's sparkling clean but there is boat loads of live algae still in the pool. Marty had said keep filter off until it gets murky blue and we aren't there yet. This morning, day 5 of...

pool math problem? Pool math said 7 bottles 121 oz bleach to get us to SLAM (16 FC) and 10 min after putting the bleach in we were at 4. What is wrong? pump on recirculate.

but I think the filter is dirty and per mike1162 he said to clean it? when vacuuming to waste, will my filter waste water go through the backwash hose or is there another hose that needs connnecting? There is no other opening.

Ok, so I think from pasting it all together our plan will be: 1) add DE (already done, will be wasted per plan below) 2) vac to waste 3) top off water 4) filter on recirculate 5) shock tonight per pool math 6) vac to waste again tomorrow or sunday (how will we know it's time?) 7)clean filter...

Last time it was cleaned (I think) was when it was opened two weeks ago. Clean pressure is 10 and dirty is 30-40 - the dial says clean and dirty.

OK so please advise on the filter. We just backwashed, should we add DE (not 100% sure how much we should add each time), and then put on recirculate until pool clear? I'm confused. No one has ever mentioned recirculate. Do tell!

That is what we did last time, though - put it in at 9p, 100% gone at 7a...

we lose water every time we backwash too, though.... need to get this thing DONE! Could we SLAM now, it's 6pm? and risk overnight? Or should we do in morning?

so we turn it to waste and turn pump on, we can vacuum and it'll come out the black outlet? that is what we need to do....can attach our backwash hose onto it. or wait, wont' it just go out of the backwash hose ?
