Is this algae? UPDATED: SLAM Started

SLAM plus 24 hr mustard algae shock level is complete. Looking good now. It was nice weather all week but rained cats and dogs on Saturday evening in the middle of the mustard level shock.

I think I goofed. Help me?

You're not alone. I'm not too far up the road from you in Charleston. My FC level dropped too much recently after the Memorial weekend tropical storm and my pool also turned a nice light green. I'm currently in the SLAM process.

Is this algae? UPDATED: SLAM Started

Re: Is this algae? I started my SLAM yesterday afternoon. One question, does the algae and/or other organics in the water consume the chlorine at a quicker rate when the chlorine levels are high compared to when they're at normal levels? Reason I ask is because of my OCLT results. On my Sunday...

Is this algae? UPDATED: SLAM Started

Re: Is this algae? I turned my SWG to 0% output for last night, left the pump running. The water temp did rise quickly. We had the tropical storm roll through and the water was approx. 80 degrees. Had a hot week after that and the next weekend it was up the 86-87 degrees according to my cheap...

Is this algae? UPDATED: SLAM Started

Re: Is this algae? My bad. I need to update my signature. I now have a TF-100 kit. These results were with the FAS-DPD test, performed as written in the instructions with 10 mL. Also, assuming it was the right thing to do, I turned my SWG back up to 40% this morning to keep the FC from...

Is this algae? UPDATED: SLAM Started

We're in our first year of pool ownership. I'm guessing this is some sort of algae. What to do? Here's the background... Two weeks ago the water was crystal clear. We had a tropical storm come through and dump a lot of rain. Last weekend this yellowish pollen-colored stuff started showing up on...

    First time testing

It was a green swamp 4 weeks ago. Pool maintenance guy shocked it, it cleared up over the next two weeks, and has looked this clear for about 2 weeks now. Considering this was my first time trying any of these tests, I think I need do a whole new round of tests this week and make sure I didn't...

    First time testing

It's pretty dang clear. Not quite as clear as that picture though. My pool doesn't have a typical main drain in the bottom. Has a "main" drain on one wall about 3' under the surface and the skimmer on the opposite wall.

    First time testing

Hey y'all. As I mentioned in my intro thread not long ago, we bought a new house and with that became new pool owners. While I worked on inside projects I had a pool maintenance guy get the pool ready. He shocked it and got all the levels right. I just received my TF-100 kit this week and did...

Thanks for the welcomes. I've updated my signature with what I know as of now. Back to pool school for a while and to figure out which test kit I want.

Hello y'all. My fiance and I just bought our first house. We weren't necessarily looking for a house with a pool, but this one just so happened to have one. Added bonus! At least we think so so far. Neither of us ever had a pool before so I'm coming here to read up and edumucate myself on pool...
