    Issue with one skimmer

@ajw22 —you’re magnificent! It was the weir door, which looked to be floating pretty well—but not fully. Once I loosened it up, the whole issue resolved itself. @Mdragger88 —thank you, as well, for the quick reply!

    Issue with one skimmer

Hello, TFP friends! One of our skimmers was making a gurgling noise so I opened the lid and saw that the water level inside was very low. I checked the other skimmer, which was perfectly normal. Any idea why one would be low enough to create a waterfall noise and the other would be normal...

SWG and Pool Temperature went out at once

Thanks for all your help! Last question, I think: is replacing the temp sensor something you’d recommend outsourcing, or is it an easy self-service job?

SWG and Pool Temperature went out at once

Thanks! Do you know whether the SWG actually shuts down when the temperature sensor is broken—or is it just throwing a bad “0%” code?

SWG and Pool Temperature went out at once

Hi, TFP family! A few days ago, during a very sunny period, my pool stopped reporting temperature (the reading was “open”) and my SWG started showing 0% production (picture attached). Just to be sure my recent addition of calcium chloride hadn’t scaled up the salt cell, I removed and cleaned...

    Considering a second SWG

Thanks, Mknauss—I kind of enjoy the OCLT process, so I’ll do that.

    Considering a second SWG

Hi, TFP Family! It looks like my current SWG isn’t sufficient to keep our pool at the right chlorine levels during the sunniest days of summer. After adding bleach to hit 5ppm last night, we’ve ended the day with 1ppm of free chlorine. (This is with my poor Jandy AquaPure 1400 SWG working...

    Prep for vacation

Team: Thanks again for all the good advice. We got home today and, after 10 days away from home, our numbers were: FC: 12 CC: 0.0 pH: 7.9 TA: 75 CH: 375 CYA: 65 Salt: 4000 Water levels were a bit low from evaporation, so I refilled with hose water and added some muriatic acid, so the salt...

Thanks, Dave, we’re good on organics! I slammed after opening and passed the OCLT. We’ve just always had to run a relatively high SWG percentage to get our FC levels right. :)

Thanks again, Dave. Looks like I should be upping my CYA to 70 regardless, so a few pucks aren’t out of order! Crabboy, I’ve never checked phosphates—I’ll check the boards for some info about that. It’d be great to have an answer to why I seem to need such a high percentage for a 12-hour runtime!

Thanks! We sometimes get that type of rain, but it’s not a given. I’ll check the forecasts and think about an extra bag of salt if it looks like a lot of rain is on the way.

Dave, that’s really helpful to hear. For some reason, I thought my CYA was a little low for a swg pool. (My notes from Pool School said 70-80, which always felt too high—makes SLAMming difficult!) Crabboy, my SWG seems a bit underpowered for my pool size, so I run it at 80% for 12 hours per...
