    Waterproof coping mortar

The best plan I can come up with is to use a siloxane type penetrating sealer to seal the flagstone and mortar, using one that will darken the stone to a “wet look” without putting a film over the stone like a poly or acrylic sealer. The siloxane sealers are too thin to fill the 1/16” cracks...

    Waterproof coping mortar

Here are a few pictures of the small cracks I’m trying to keep water out of. Hoping to avoid sealers that require removal before reapplication. Any suggestions?

    Waterproof coping mortar

I have this same problem (small cracks in coping mortar up to about 1/16” or so) and thinking freeze/thaw cycle this winter will worsen. Has anyone used a sealer that might fill these cracks? Coping is flagstone and hoping to find something I can reapply over itself every few years as needed...

Trying to avoid hot start, but builder...

Plaster installed yesterday, filled it last night. Plaster company “brushed” finish to expose aggregate- looks beautiful albeit a bit splotchy. They are saying they will add 7+ gallons of muriatic acid (pool is about 10,500 gallons). Seems a bit strong no? You think the PB is insisting on...

Appreciate all the feedback. PB argued finish would be blotchy without the acid etch. He also said sub was incorrect about the acid bath- no acid bath for the quartz type we picked.

Plaster sub just arrived to clean the pool and said he will be coming back to do acid wash the day after plaster. If he does the acid wash, no need for hot start up to expose the aggregate- correct?

Waiting to do the acid bath sounds like a logical option if I can’t talk him into polishing. Fill water... ph- 8 alkalinity- 130 calcium- 100 - - - Updated - - - If I used a pool cleaner to wear cream away, guessing I still have to wait 3-4 weeks before putting the pool clear in? pool...

Trying to avoid hot start, but builder...

Thanks Brian. Not familiar with polishing...I’ll research it before I ask. Guess I may be stuck with acid start up. My superintendent seemed to think they would do acid wash AND acid start up after it is filled (pool builder ops mngr said no acid wash). I was under the impression it was...

Trying to avoid hot start, but builder...

New pool is almost finished, wet edge Luna quartz St Martin is being installed tomorrow or Friday. Builder says they will not do an acid wash because aggregate is so small in this finish so hot start will be necessary to expose aggregate. I would prefer bicarbonate start up but wife is pushing...
