Does pool store shock test differently than bleach on a Taylor 2006 complete test kit

Yes, I am using my own test kit and following the SLAM proceedure. I know that I need to keep it at 20+ because the CYA is 50. I just thought that the shock would work a little faster. I'm just surprised that if the FC is that high it's not clearing faster. On the other hand there was a TON of...

Does pool store shock test differently than bleach on a Taylor 2006 complete test kit

Help! So in a moment of weakness and hope to get my pool ready for memorial day I used pool store shock to clear it up. It is still green. I have added over the last 2 weeks 24 bags of 73% calcium hypochlorite shock (power powder plus from Leslie's) CYA is at 50 and the FC test is reading over...

    Confused...

Well I am happy to report that the SLAM is done! It took exactly 3 weeks to do it but I now have a sparkling clear pool. My levels this morning were FC 13.5 (last night it was a 14) and a CC level of .5 and a CYA of 30. So I am done slamming....now what? do I just let the FC come down to a 2?

    Confused...

ok, we are making some progress today, however, I think I need to vacuum to waste. My concern is if there are still leaves on the bottom will they get clogged in the pipes? It's green but we can see the perimeter and the shallow end fairly well, enough to see the dirt and sweep the shallow on...

    Confused...

Hi, I used the directions on the bottle of Kemtek stabilzer. It said to raise to 30ppm add 1.5 lbs. Should I add more? I'm worried about it getting to high and having to drain since it's expense to fill the pool. I'm using the Taylor complete FAS-DPD K-2006 test kit. The FC is now at 17, not...

    Confused...

still green... I am still fighting the algae today. FC level is 19.5, CYA still not showing on the test after 9 days :( We are holding at the same bright green color, it looks darker in the photo than it actually is. Should I try something else? I feel like we are not getting anywhere at this...

    Confused...

Thank you for the tip. It's flow is strong so far. I will monitor it closely. - - - Updated - - - I was able to fish a large amount of leaves off the bottom of the deep end. Enough to fill a black garbage bag lol Hopefully this will help. Going to test and add bleach now. I will post update...

    Confused...

Thanks all! We got as much debris off the bottom as we could but we can't see the bottom so it's a guessing game. I will back wash the filter again. It appears the gage is broken because it's not reading anything. I will keep brushing and testing the FC through the day and see if there is any...

    Confused...

Hi! We are first time pool owners in Ohio. The pool came with the house, it's inground, vinyl liner, 27,300 appx. gallons, Hayward GM 245 sand filter. I have been slamming for 5 days now. The first day there was a noticible change in color, from black to murky green, but we seem to be stuck on...

    CYA....

Hello, This is our first pool. Inground, 27,300 gallons, Hayward 245 sand filter. It came with the house we just bought. Why does it take so long for the CYA level to show on the test? I used the sock method, it's been 4 days and it's still not showing anything. We started at 0 and added 1.5...

    Vacuum the pool...

Thank you! It is a swamp lol I'm skimming leaves from the bottom and I can't see anything. Hopefully, once I start adding bleach to slam I will be able to see the bottom and get them all. I just need the CYA to register on the test. It's been 4 days and the black dot is still visible. Does it...
